    Hi folks,

I bought and installed the JVC KW-NT3HDT in my 11 dcab nearly 2 years ago. I used the Crutchfield kit which included the double din face plate and mounting hardware. The problem is the radio is pretty heavy and the kit from Crutchfield uses plastic braces to secure the radio. Going over any type of pot hole (Pittsburgh roads) causes the radio to slightly vibrate, but more annoyingly make some noise. The stock radio used metal brackets. I purchased the install kit from *********.com wanting the dimple look (matches stock) and was hoping they had a more sturdy brace to hold the radio. Unfortunately, the ********* kit required reusing the stock metal braces....and I ditched those metal braces along with the stock radio after I installed the JVC. Long story short...if anyone has the stock metal braces sitting around I would be more than happy to pay a few bucks plus shipping. I would think the 05-11 metal braces are all the same. I'd like to remove the plastic braces and use the stock metal to help secure down the radio.

PM me if you have the brackets sitting around, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Scott

The stock radio brackets won't sit at the right viewing angle and will make the deck point up more than it should. You'll have to drill out holes/cut/etc.. If I can find mine I'll PM you as I don't need them.

Thank you. I'll try them out cuz I can't stand the vibration anymore.

You shouldn't be getting any vibration at all. I've installed a few decks into Tacoma's now, all using the plastic ones, none of them vibrate.

I looked for them last night and couldn't find them. I know I have them, just not sure where I have them. .If I find them I'll PM you.

You could use some sheet metal and brace the plastics more.. I'm wondering if over time the heat just makes it softer and that's why they begin to bounce. :notsure:

Not a problem. I found the part numbers and I'm picking them up at the dealer. Had a 10% coupon for parts...so they'll run me about 27 bucks.

I believe you are correct regarding the heat. The times I've worked on the unit it does get warm and there isn't a lot of room with this head unit and all the wires it's pretty cramped. A little heat, a heavy head unit and Pittsburgh pot holes...In addition, I didn't really notice this vibration over the winter and into the spring. It's only been the past few months that it's getting annoying and it would make sense since we are seeing record high temps in the area.

Yeah I live in AZ, inside of the truck can hit 150+ no problem.. I blame the heat :)

With those metal brackets you may need to cut a bit to get the proper viewing angle.. If I remember correctly there is a lip that holds the stock radio in place, that will need to be cut. Its easy with a grinder.

Good luck! Post some pics of how it goes.

Got my metal brackets installed with the ********* dash kit and remote control unit from ********* as well.

Radio is rock solid now without any vibrations or squeaks...huge difference compared to the Crutchfield dash kit which used plastic mounts. The radio is just too heavy for them and with the heat it just made it too flimsy. I also replaced the steering wheel remote kit from Crutchfield with the *********. The Crutchfield unit was slow response and it did not have full functionality. The up arrow to change stations did not work (only down and volume worked). This unit from ********* was plug and play. No dip switches or soldering required. Very happy and more importantly no squeaks. Picture isn't great quality...looks better in person.

I know this thread is old and I may not get a response but I am having the same problem, broken brackets. Did the aftermarket stereo fit without modifying the brackets?

Sorry for the late response. The metal brackets fit without any modifications. The flimsy plastic brackets simply couldn't hold the weight of the radio. The aftermarket radio and OEM metal brackets fit perfectly together.
