Will the box occupy the space between the 2x4 and the back of that wallboard on the side of the cabinet ?

No, the idea is to have a box mounted inside the cabinet, on the inside surface, like in the picture below. It would not be recessed. I would run the wire through the back of the box, through a hole in the cabinet and the hole in the 2x4, then up the 2x4. The wire would be in the wall at all times.

I made a ridiculously crude diagram to show what I mean.

I'm not understanding why you don't just use a recessed box in the cabinet or does it not go back far enough to utilize that void on the side behind the 2x4

I got tired of the flimsy big box store screen doors 80 x 48". With dogs they fall apart pretty quickly. This weekend I put together a CRL powder coated extruded aluminum heavy duty screen. It comes in a box. You cut it to fit, put it together and add your own screen and spline. I went with a.125 spine since I used a heavy pet screen. This screen door is way better built than the one that would hardly stay on the track anymore.

It's not deep enough. I could cut a single gang box size hole in the side of the cabinet where that void is, but the box would still protrude into the cabinet. Granted, less then surface mount would. Maybe I'll do that - use a surface mount box but recess it back as much as I can. They do have shallow boxes; may look into those as well. Thanks for the replies.

I was thinking of laying down some cardboard boxes in the crawl space to provide a "crawl-way" for me to move along as to not be dragging my ass across the dirt. There is no vapor barrier down there, just the soil. I've been reading that you don't want to put cardboard in a crawl space as it holds moisture, attracts termites and mold, etc. Though I have not seen any signs of moisture issues down there or termites. Like I said, it's all redwood framing, so it has natural resistance I assume.

Sound like a good idea, or should I use something else?

Also I ordered this from Amazon along with the Tyvek suit:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00079FOK0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_Ij6jIZUBQT38G

Would that respirator be good enough to protect me when I start with the bug foggers? I don't plan to sit there in the fog of poison but I wouldn't be able to get out quickly once they start either.

If u lay cardboard down you should pull it when u finish project
The less junk rotting in the crawl the better plus the critters would utilize it. Total gross lol
U should talk ur landlord into paying u to lay down some 6 mil plastic sheeting :)
True that's already a dry space but a vapor barrier will help building longevity and improve indoor air quality

I'd be outside and throw the foggers under the house. No way I'd be under there with them going off. If you have to be under there, read the contents of the fogger and then the respirator and see what it protects from.

    Last boring siding detail post

This is how our upper vent for the rainscreen cavity turned out after we decided to eliminate the top trim I originally intended to put there

Upside down perforated aluminum j bug screen in place 1/2" down from decking plane

Top edge of siding left 1/4" below decking , providing the ventilation exhaust for the convection current behind the siding

From the ground the top vent is basically invisible

Is that what most people do is throw them? I would imagine they have to spray a certain way? My crawl space is like 3 foot high would it be ok to toss some under there?

I haven't used any in many years... just saying I wouldn't want to be under there with it. You could be right on the direction. :notsure:

Is that because you are using real wood for siding? I've not seen it done that way around here. They used hardy plank on my house and it was nailed in right over the top of the tyvek/moisture barrier.
