Thanks. Picked it up about two years ago. Been down for a couple months, unfortunately. Long story short: manifold swap turned into a bolt in the valve, had to return to old tunnel ram with new heads. Now the flexplate needs replaced because it wasn't shimmed properly and chewed up the gear. Hoping to drop it off today as I don't have a lift. Chevy big block 454, dual Holley 450's, street geared at 3.10, body was chopped about 12", Mickey Thompson 33" sportsman drag radials. Crane roller rockers matched to a mild cam. Trying to upload a video with sound but taking forever.

 

Gotta disagree with you there. A clean stock restoration of a classic car or truck is miles more appealing to me than the 'restomod' trend that we're seeing now, with a stupid set of 22's and a lowered stance on something that came out of the factory 60 years ago with 15's.

Case in point:

Those wheels look like somebody took their inspiration from the plastic caps on a king-size tube of tootsie-rolls.

To me, this is 1000X more appealing.

 

I can't knock you for what you like/don't like - but as ryanjboutin said, restomod isn't some new trend. Have you ever heard of a guy named Chip Foose? Boyd Coddington?

Also, the wheels on that truck are just white smoothies. Smoothies have definitely been around longer than most people on this site have been alive. Also almost all of these cars are on air suspension, so they don't ride around with "stupid stance" all the time.

Again, I can't knock you for what you like/don't like, I just want to help you understand what you're looking at.

 

Just to expand on that a little.

An restored car will only be worth money if it's a sought after vehicle. A restomod can turn an average production car into a show stopper that sells for $150k at auction. Don't believe me, go to a classic auction or watch one on TV. In addition, restomods put modern suspension/brakes/engine/etc that performs well and is up to current safety standards. I mean, I guess drum brake technology from 1950 on the front of a 5000lb land yacht are "original" but that's definitely not what I want to drive when I could have 6 piston Brembos - and you aint clearing those on 15" steelies. Numbers cars can be put together by average mechanics in their back yard. Restomods often require engineering fabrication skills most just don't have.

Again, not knocking what you like/don't like, I'm just preaching the restomod gospel. For me, restomod beats restored all day.
