Yup, only open weekdays by reservation. Tried to get a guided tour as a way of getting to check it out but the guy was already booked.

 

Was gonna hit the like button. But that would be a dick move.

 

You just have to join the TCLA and register for the event through Gotham City Land Cruiser by 30 June...lol

 

Thoughts on tires on bed racks:

Anyone want to show me their opinion on putting a tire on top of the cab or a bed rack of similar height? I'm worried about weight that high, on the other hand, RTT weight doesn't seem to be an issue.

Clearly I need at least 2, preferably 3 spares on the truck.... FML.

The weight is not much of an issue. Secure mounting is an issue. And hauling a heavy tire up too would suck too.

 

after a day of wheeling, I would just let go when it was on the edge..

 

not going to be able to do that if there are 2 plus a RTT back there. Id let it roll away/go chase it haha

 

Yeah ur hard on the tires. But damn u can change it pretty quick!!

Pain in the ass to get it on and off. Those tires get heavy and slippery when wet. Tire carrier in the near future.

 

Yeah, that's my concern.

 

Eventually the rack will have a bed rail height tire carrier. Until then, on top is a second best?

 

I have my second spare on a custom mini bed rack that I had made out of a set of bed bars.

 

I mounted my second spare just above the bed rail height to try to keep the center of gravity low.

 

I want to retain some use of the bed, and plan to get a RTT next year, so building the rack is a good first step for that.

 

Is that better with the tent on the bed rack than on the cab?
