So has anybody heard anything about a Rev2?

I thought the rumor was Toyota was still working on an update as far back as 3-4+ months ago

Just wait... That new fuzzy feeling will soon go away once it starts learning again.

Just got mine done today at 14,xxx for the R to D delay. I think my truck drove fine otherwise. Noticed the changes immediately. Got better gas mileage as well, maybe that's the summer blend though.

Had the shift feel tsb done and it felt great for 2 days. No hard downshift, shifted at 42mph instead of 48mph, and gas mileage felt like it was better. Now it's back to normal as if tsb was never applied.......

ive taken mine in for just this, and they said my 17 OR "doesnt have an update yet, but they know its a problem" and then for the 5000 mile a couple weeks ago i asked them about it again and they said [after checking] "still nothing, but there should be something soon." poor shift points and a 3 second delay on throttle response continue...

Have them hook it up to techstream and print off the vehicle diag report with the calibration numbers. That's the only way to know for sure what version of software you have on your truck.

Hell mine has been downshifting to about 3rd or 4th whenever I am coasting downhill and apply the brakes for a slight curve...say in the 40-50 mph range.

Damn annoying to have to shift over to S and slap the shift lever forward twice or more just to keep coasting.

Edit: I had the Rev 1 loaded back in the winter...I have about 23,000 miles on it also.

Hey guys, first post here other than a short "hi" to folks who join TW.

Thanks SO MUCH for this thread on the TSB update for the 6speed tranny! A little back story here first. I bought my 16' TRD ORDC short bed Blazing Blue Pearle!! (not the color I saw myself driving, but what the heck.) Purchased used from a Subaru dealer. (Crazy right!!) I had been looking at taco's for a few years, researching and dreaming and strata-jizing how am i going to get this past the treasurer(wife).

One random Friday last october, we pulled into the local Subaru lot to work a trade in on my wife's 2013 Outback. She was wanting a 2016 Crosstrek. (she didn't like the Outback and wanted something smaller. No prob right?! more leverage when she sees the price tag for the dream taco!-at least that was my plan.) Turned out, not only did they have the vehicle she wanted, but just as we pulled into the opening on the lot, there IT WAS, my dream taco! (play-angels singing) Only 10,800 miles on it! Like new, no damages etc. (turned out to be previously owned by a gentleman who recently died. :( His wife asked the Subaru dealer to sell it for her- she evidently purchased her car from them.)

So after checking it out, making sure it was all that I wanted, we went in and made a DOUBLE DEAL in one day!! I paid 32K (literally took 7 hours to do the negotiations and loan paperwork.)

After joining up on Tacomaworld.com and seeing all the 'issues' with 3rd gen, I began to wonder/worry why I'm not experiencing any bad stuff except that transmission shift awkardness that you guys were talking about. Everything else, ran GREAT! Averaging 17 to 19-20 mpg! However, my VIN is in the camshaft recall group, but I have yet to experience anything related to the issues on that recall.

Fast forward to today, I took the taco to the dealer (Toyota dealer) to get the 20K service done and have them check everything, I asked them check it ALL because I didn't know/trust how intimate a Subaru/ used car service department would be with all the known/potential issues.

Walked in, told them do the 20k service etc etc.. when I mentioned the transmission update, the lovely lady looked at me like blink-uhhh...blink blink... "We don't do that." I decided to pause (considering the words of my mom, you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar dear.... ) asked her to wait one moment, then politely pulled up the Service Bulletin.pdf I had on my iPad that I got from the upload here... showed her and she wrote down the TSB number and said the 'tech guy' will see it and know what to do. (in my head, he better %#^&@ well know what to do, freakin %#@#%^ Toyota dealership #%$^&$1). Calmed my mind and smiled and said. Cool, thank you. Took my seat and proceeded to demand myself to keep in check. (I admit after 2 hours, I started itchin for the bitchin... lol. - no news about what was going on.) Finally at 2.6 hours she shows up and says everything has been successful and they were taking it over to the car wash and it would be ready in a jiffy! Too cool, cuz I got it muddy over last weekend!! :)

20K service for 68$ including the tranny flash, took 3 hours and worth every cent! She runs like Buttttah now, spanked clean and i'm sure the mileage will improve.. (well maybe not, now I want to drive like a madman!)

Thank YOU SO MUCH to whomever first posted the .rev1 of the update. I got the link from
illogical [OP]. Kudo's to you sir and thanks again.

It was that post that turned shiftshit to buttttah! Much gratitude.

    Keep wheelin- thanks again
    Matt

Be warned. They probably disconnected your battery and cleared the memory on the learned shifting pattern. Your truck will start to relearn and the crappy shift will come back. Maybe your the 1 in a million that won't.

5k miles on my tsb still shifts fine.

    @hunter17
2.5 hours is too fast for a fluid check so they probably just did the software. But why did you have to pay for anything? 20k service is free and so is the TSB under warranty.

I've had mine reflashed twice. The original which created the horrible 3rd gear flare. The revision which did away with the flare but added a huge timing cut/lock up delay when shifting into 4th.

15000 miles later and the flare is back with a vengeance and the bogging in 4th is still there. I gave up using CC long ago on this truck as it just destroys the mpg. Going back in the shop Wednesday.

Re flash fixed my reverse to drive delay. Added better shifting too. Still good after 3000 miles.

I had that fixed with my 1st flash a year ago. The rev 1 done in December helped everything else but now approaching 13k miles I feel the need coming for another update. If not in ect or s4 my sluggish 3-4-5 is slowly coming back. It likes to get find 5th gear running 35-40 mph like before rev 1. The hesitation from R to D and P to D has never come back.

I inherited my Mom's 2011 Rav4 about a month ago. It drives like a dream.

I had parked my SR5 V6 auto when I got the Rav and haven't drove for weeks until yesterday. It is powerless and shifts so damn crappy compared to the 6 year old Rav4 that I actually stopped by and looked at the Honda Ridgeline. I liked the inside but otherwise the redesign is butt-ugly in my opinion.

I love everything about the Tacoma but Toyota needs to address this issue and quit dragging their feet. These flashes are not doing much worthwhile. If you think your truck is doing great then you need to go drive something else to compare it it.

I had become complacent with mine till I drove a 4 cylinder Rav4 that blew it out of the water.
