The install process for the tailgate is similar to the door cup guards.

Highly recommended that you have an extra set of hands to make the process go by quicker.

Please make sure the surface is clean before application and keep it both the film and surface area wet until you are sure of placement prior to edging out the remaining soapy solution. **Keeping it moist helps with positioning the film in place**

Once the film is where you want it, start squeezing/edging the soapy solution.

I have these on my truck and absolutely love it. Looks nice and clean while my wifes truck is a wreck under the handles from her nails. I should probably get her a pair.

Any more tips for the tailgate strip install? I messed mine up (mostly because I got called away to get slime out of the kid's hair and the soapy water all dried). Now I'm a little apprehensive to buy another and try again. I did the door cups with no issues... is the tailgate strip that much harder?

Sorry to hear that. The tailgate is only harder if you are doing it yourself because of the length. I do not know about you, but I got T-Rex arms, they do not extend very far :).

I have not tried this yet, but I was thinking maybe instead of peeling off the entire backing you could peel off small sections in increments of 6 inches to 1ft. Working with a smaller section would be more manageable doing it yourself.

Thanks for the tips. I may just have it done professionally somewhere. Or if I try again I'll wait until the kids are gone so there won't be any interruptions!

Received them today, thanks! Just a heads up to other Canadians... CBSA slapped me with $14.85 in tax/handling charges. Not impressed but nothing to do with the seller just warning Canadians to possibly expect a higher end cost...

I did mine on Sunday, with help from the wife. She held one side at the top corner of the tailgate and I held the other while we positioned it. Really is a two person job imo.

By the way, did everyone else have to cut theirs also? Mine was about 4 inches too long.

I had to make two attempts at it, because the first time we didn't use enough soap in the water and it stuck right away. We weren't able to move it around at all. So we removed it, made up a new solution and then gave it a second go. Being a little heavier on the soap, it allowed us to slide the xpel around quite a bit before squeezing the water out.

Also we found that the film would not adhere at the very top of the tailgate. There's a slight ridge in the tailgate there, and the film was not pliable or sticky enough to make the bend. On the second go, we ran it just barely under that ridge and it went on fine. It's about a half inch below the moulding, which is fine by me. Maybe if you remove the moulding and do it like others did earlier in this thread it will give you less hassle. But I'm okay with that slight gap.

Unfortunately, because we had to remove and reapply, we got some gunk on the back side of the film. It's going to bother me every time I open the tailgate I think. There are also a few small bubbles that I'm hoping will fade with time. I'll give it a week or two.

The door cup guards went on much easier, no problem with those really.

Just sent payment for a set of door handle cup guards.

Would have done the tailgate, too, but I'm awaiting a rally stripe that will run down the gate and question the efficacy of putting the protector wither under of above the stripe.
    Happy 4th.

I applied these while I was at work and had to skip steps 10 and 11 of the instructions. Will this void any type of warranty?

Are all packages still available? Any pics of the tailgate letters?
