I can't speak for the factory mud guards, but I have the Husky ones on mine and there is zero contact. wouldn't expect much difference w/ the factory ones. if anything mine are wider than the factory ones

And these are powder coated pretty well so I haven't had issues w/ them being too slick (unless I've put a fresh coat of Aerospace 303 on there :) at all and the "stars" actually give you a bit more grip as your soles seat into them when you step up.

Thanks. For the price and utility I'm inclined to just order these. As my first 4x4 I'd rather not spend a ton of money on stuff until I learn more about what I really need and plan to use it for.

Didn't see any comments about the stock tires. Can anyone comment on their performance on snow-packed roads?

Dude, sliders are made of much heavier tubing than steps. They are made so that you can actually lift the vehicle with the sliders. They are welded together, that's a skill that doesn't come cheap.

Mobtown Offroad will make you some that are at 0 degrees, but sliders aren't cheap and aren't going to be.

I'm on the stock OR wranglers - never had any issue the few times I drove them in packed snow. Nothing is really going to help you in ice except some good chains. but if you get slippery in the snow, just use your 4x4 and gadgets as intended. On a snowy road where I was getting a little slippage about to go up a hill, I put it into 4Lo and the "sand" MTS setting and it climbed right on up no problem.

I thought the first thing I'd do when i bought my truck was replace the wranglers for KO2s or something even more aggressive but after a winter, spring, summer with the wranglers I'll run these until they wear out and even then may replace w/ the same thing....

So, after the feedback here and some suggestions I went with the these and they just arrived today. Stupid easy install and pretty nice overall, but now that they are on I realize I just lost several inches of clearance between the wheels. Probably won't be an issue 99% of the time, but I have a habit of going places I shouldn't so I guess we'll see. If I eff 'em up I'll chalk it up to live and learn. For now, totally worth $230.

Glad you're enjoying them. Indeed you do lose some clearance between the wheels, but overall I'd say it at least will give you some safety net. In mine, they hang almost flush with the frame so in terms of overall clearance I'm not losing much, if anything. But yes, if you're in the habit of taking the rocks on the sides you may have some issues later down the road. I've never "rock crawled" really with these on, but have definitely scrapped them a couple of times mildly which was a good (w/o a spotter) wake-up call to work on a different route.

Anyway, hope you enjoy them! ..can't beat for the price.
