Ok, so the loop on the driver side and the hook on the passenger side are both legitimate recovery points?

And you're saying I can use a tow hitch receiver D-ring in the back?

I've never seen another Pro Tacoma on the road. Today between Santa Barbara up 154 and on to 101 headed towards San Luis Obispo I saw two within 30 miles and both were Inferno. Craziness.

hey guys just added a 2013 tx baja to my families fleet of yotas. I love the truck so far but i need to do something about the rear springs. Right now they are pretty flat even possibly a little de-arched. The thing is when i have nothing in the bed the truck sits pretty level. But when i load my tools in the bed (im a carpenter) the rear sags like 1" to 1 1/2" with only like maybe 200lbs in it. Now my question is what can i do to make it so a.) my truck sits level or maybe even a little rake with a constant load and b.) make it so my springs will take more load because sometimes i haul more then just my tools ie plywood. should i just get new springs, a progressive aal, or a single all. i know on my 1st gen i got new springs and a aal and that thing rode decent but would call all kinds of weight with out squating. oh a i have the tsb pack (3+1)

The Tacoma is already SOA. Like it states above a lot of us get Firestone ride rite airbags, myself included. I just installed a set of used stock leafsprings with Wheelers 3 leaf add a leaf and it gave me 1.5" lift over stock in the back.

This is with the newer used oem leafsprings and wheelers 3 leaf add a leaf setup without the airbags installed.

I just reinstalled the airbags today add I only needed 4psi in them to touch the water at cradles, I put 6psi just for minimal air pressure like you're supposed to, gained a moth 1/4" lift in back.

This picture is before the newer leafsprings and ad a leafs. This is how bad my stock leafsprings were.

A lot of people here like air bags. I dislike the idea of having to look for a compressor every time I put a load in the truck and worry about leaks down he road. I just ordered a hellwig helper springs. I considered wheelers but have heard problem stories here about inconsistent lift from them and driveline vibes from more than 2" of rear lift.

A Dakar leaf pack with a third leaf and one overload leaf removed would give you the same amount of lift as stock but won't squash down on you when there is load in the bed. If you decide to mod your truck later on and add more weight, just put those 2 leafs back.

Any add-a-leaf fix to the stock leaf pack is just garbage.

I added a Wheelers AAL and have been really happy with it. I was going to go the path of the ride right air bags, as I carry a lot of weight on occasion, but didn't have the $$ at the time and I though for $60, hey its worth a shot. Had them on for 3 years and no complaints and saved alot of money on not doing the air bags. The other upside is that it leveled out the stance again to its original levelness...

yeah i really dont want to deal with bags.
i was looking at the dakars but i was seeing mixed reviews on them. I just want something thats going to hold a load no problem like my 02 with the hell creek springs (to bad they dont make one for anything after 04)

I was looking at the icon 3 leaf aal (they are pretty much all the same) i was just worried that yes it may give me the lift but would either crap out quick or would just bring my truck closer to the bump stops with the weight in it. (aka but really give my spring much arch with a load in the bed)

If you have the budget for it, I would replace the leaf packs with Dakars or AllPro leaf packs with longer U-bolts. I went with the AllPro standards, but only because I got an incredible deal from a local TW member.
Most of the guys who load up the trucks seem to like the air bags, but that would also mean you need to install an air compressor and worry about leaks.
If budget is tight, AAL would be the way to go...Progressive 3-leaf AAL would be the preferred...and the last would be a single AAL. Just avoid blocks.

Yeah definitely not doing the bags or blocks. I'm leaning towards new springs because mine looks tired and the whole needing more load capacity. That's another reason I was wondering about the dobinsons. I know the ask would work but for how long. Just seems like it would be pretty much polishing a turd to do the aal

    "polishing a turd"

Again, some folks just can't or don't want to spend the money on new/better/thicker leaf spring packs. If you can get a deal on some Dakars, that's the route I would go if I were you since you seem to load up the bed. I would even leave the third leaf and one overload leaf, and see how it rides before considering removing them, if I were you. If it's too stiff, then remove the third and the overload.

I wanted the Dakars even after reading the mixed reviews based on most of the trucks on TW seem to have the best ride with them or the AllPro Expos. But, again, I ended up with the AllPro Standards because of the deal I got.

I haven't heard much about the Dobinsons. By now, with the 2nd gens being around for so long,...there's a reason why most of us go with the name brand products...reliability, service, and performance. There must be a reason why Dobinsons aren't the common route to go. o_O

@mixaro Has yours been frequently loaded or used for towing over the years? Sounds like your best bet will be a new full leaf pack. +1 on sticking with top name brands.

I have a 3-leaf Deaver AAL sitting in my garage and am still not convinced I should install it. I'd remove the overload (don't haul much & would love a softer ride back there). But it sits nice and doesn't squeak as-is, so I feel like I'm just looking for trouble.

How do you like the AAL? Does it squeak or cause other issues? Did you remove the overload?

Where is everyone getting the best price on the dakars

I'm not really sure of how the previous used the truck but I'm guessing that he atleast towed with it because it has a break booster for the hitch. But I will definitely keep it load all the time with around 200 lbs or more of tools

You could contact one of the awesome vendors here on TW like Boss4x4, Headstrong, or Wheeler's to see if they have any deals going on, or order through Amazon? Best time to buy are usually during the holidays.
