Not to mention the quality control, we've all seen the failures of brands that end up with the wrong thing on the tent, or stuff being backasswards.

Just got back from a six day, 1200 mile camping / kayaking / climbing / hiking / offroading trip all around the Kenai peninsula in Alaska. Will put together a dedicated thread for it in the coming days as I sort through all of the pictures, videos, and drone footage.

Spent five nights in the RTT. One pouring rain and one howling wind. Still very happy with this thing. Probably have around 100-120 nights spent in this RTT since I bought it 4 years ago.

What tent do you have? I would like to do a similar setup but the shipping weight of my CVT was 235lbs and the max weight on the biggest hoister.com product package was 200lbs.

It can be figured for one or two people and has a maximum weight capacity of 550 pounds. We put the first seat in the middle / one person configuration and then put the back seat in its place for our small children who are not yet paddling. Works out perfect balance / control wise.

OK. Dumb question #2: the LED light in my Mt. Shasta doesn't turn on. The tent came with a car charger...what do I charge, exactly? The instructions were woefully inadequate.

Doesn't charge anything. You need to plug it in to a hot 12 volt to turn the lights on.
I turned mine on, but haven't used it since the Taco has no constant hot outlet.

Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
CVTs come with lights now? my "retro" Mt. Rainier didn't come with any of that fancy stuff!

Ordered an overhang spreader bar and annex channel for it today though.

When I ordered my Mt Shasta I thought having the lights built in was an great feature. Then it hit me As I was setting up the tent on my truck that the Tacoma outlets are not always hot. Has anyone come up with a work around?

For the time being I'm using a portable charger/jump starter I keep in the truck that has USB/12v. It charges via USB or wall outlet and can last a while since the tent LEDs don't draw much. It's small enough that it doesn't take up much room but I wanna eventually install a 12v plug in the bed similar to this on Amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018222LUO/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_eQovzb012R9Y1), off-grid engineering had a real nice Blue Sea set up but it's been taken off their site recently due to stock shortages.

What @dskakie mentioned is what I did. I ran a few power leads from the switch pro in the engine bay to the back of the bed following existing wiring under the truck. I put the 12v adapter/voltimeter/usb ports in the small cubby on the passenger side. I also put a water pressure kit in the large cubby and have an extra wire for my soon to arrive backup lights :)

The draw of that 12v/usb is very minimal. uised it all weekend camping a few weeks back and the voltimeter never went below 12.5. Truck started right up on Sunday
