Well, my mom works for a fuel distributer that sells VP and they decided it's not worth keeping every single type of VP in stock at their warehouse all the time (seriously go look how many different fuels are available). So they were clearing some space and she told me to come get as much of their extra stuff as I want...for free :woot: so of course I did. quite a bit of what's there I gave to friends but for some reason it's still taking up space in my garage, how convenient lol. It gets used in our bikes and quads, and a couple of friends are using it in their baja bugs and another will be using it in his Galant vr4 project

Congrats. I like your clean build and research that lead to it. great combo. I'm planning to do 5100 all around also. how much better was the ride quality on those new shocks?

Nice truck! It seems like a lot of people on here came from WRXs or still have one, something I find curious. I sold my '04 to get into my Tacoma.

Well honestly I only drove it stock for about 80 miles so I can't say a whole lot about the stock suspension other than I did notice it was kind of bouncy. Not like stiff bouncy, but more like old Cadillac that never stops moving up and down and all around kind of bouncy. For example going over speed bumps or even shifting gears the front end took what felt like a long time to settle down and stop moving up and down. Of course this probably felt exaggerated to me coming from an STi which was pretty much solid.

With the 5100's and 887's the front end is much more solid, but not jarring, it handles the bumps nicely and then comes to rest quickly. The rear with the AAL and 5100's does like to kind of thump over bumps for lack of a better word, especially at higher speeds but it's not awful, definitely something I can live with. I think that is a compromise that is to be expected with a pickup, especially one with such a light weight rear end/plastic bed. If you want soft enough suspension for something that light to be able to soak up the bumps then it's not going to be heavy enough to carry any sort of load. If you want suspension stiff enough to be able to at least put stuff in the bed without dragging the bump stops it's going to feel a little stiff when it's unloaded. Just have to pick your middle ground.

That being said I haven't taken it off road yet so I'm curious to see how it does there

    Thats good to hear.

I think that the Sport is the best stock model to buy for towing for the shocks... and most likely you get the tow package. I feel bad for people that don't....

What aftermarket grill is that? I think I like it more than the TRD Pro grill.

    It's this one https://www.customcargrills.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Toyota_Taco_2016

I got the mesh and the Toyota emblem from them and had them paint the emblem magnetic grey. You can also buy a new outer bezel that goes around the mesh from them and have them paint it to match but it starts to get pretty expensive (and it's the same part as your stock one) so I ordered paint from automotivetouchup.com and painted my own. I used the same adhesion promotor and clear coat from this thread and was very happy with the results https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bbp-color-keyed-grille-mod.398636/
The little TRD emblem is from Amazon

    Here's a slightly better picture of itIMG_20170702_122221232.jpg
