About ready to change the oil on my taco (same setup as my wife's Camry) and the oil filter comes with a plastic plug-in to grain the oil from the cartridge before taking the cartridge off. Problem is the plastic thing is a pain to remove and messy.
Is there a similar thing from plastic or metal that screws in and be reused?

if you're talking about that plastic plug piece that you actually push into the bottom of the filter, attach a small plastic tube to the bottom and just drain it out with the tube. That way you can lead it into a bucket or whatever you're using to drain into. Maybe a picture of what you're talking about?

I found a YouTube video that a guy used a 1 liter pop bottle. Places the plastic drain part into the bottle and shove that in the filter housing. Worked great. Did it yesterday. Just held the bottle till it was emptied.

Thanks guys, have ordered the brass "pet cock".
The only problem I have with the original plastic thing is removing it from the bottom of the cartridge...is a mess.

    Reserected from the dead.
Your new filter should have a plastic drain hose in the box.

The plastic one that comes with the OEM filter will fit nicely in the end of an empty beer bottle.

Is not the draining that I have a problem with, is the removal of the cheap plastic thing after the draining. I have to use players (slick) to remove it in a tight space. A screw in is much easier.
