That would be an amazing trip. Watching the Expedition Overland crew go south of the border was eye-opening and actually turned me off. You really have to know someone familiar with the area and local "customs" to navigate latin america safely. Clearly it's not all civil war and drug cartels... I have a high school buddy that biked from Belize to Colorado... but a wrong turn or saying the wrong thing seems that it can have dire consequences, or at the very least, an expensive inconvenience.

Oooh, this would be a bucket list trip. With enough planning, local support and Spanish speakers, it could be possible. Cedar park mentioned Baja, that could be a great trip as well.

Yeah I bought it all off of Amazon except for the mount. The mount was one I worked with Ze TacomaPros to fabricate. He has 2nd gen ones and we modded it to 3rd gen.

On the mount I put the switch pro itself along with the following terminal block. I wired the 9 power leads for accessories from the switch pro to this terminal block. This way you can relocate and change what is plugged in when you want without having to cut more switch wires.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MMH1GM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_ReTwzbC6GCXWG

I also put a negative bus bar which I wired to the vehicle ground near the battery. You can wire all grounds to here.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091VHLW4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_igTwzb1TX6YY8

Lastly, I used dielectric grease and these heat shrink ends to make things water resistant.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GXQMP66/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_AhTwzbNKCN0VH

I used stainless steel hardware to bolt it all to the mount and then the 2 threaded holes available behind the battery in the engine bay for the mount.

I have pics and what not of this step coming up soon on my build thread. Like today or tomorrow.

Edit: I used split loom and zip ties for days to make it look nice. The switch pro came with shielding and what not and I used most of it

I'd be open to starting to plan a larger trip, whether its south of the border or not. With me being in Austin and my truck being broken in Lubbock, i'm pretty incapacitated, but when August rolls around i'll move back "north" and get 'er running right again..

Awesome - I kinda figured you had links saved for it, hahaha. That's perfect, thank you! I'd love to see the work up in your build thread when you have it ready.

I know the SP is solid-state and has surge protection built in - I was thinking about doubling the security using an independent fuse block in line instead of the terminal block as double protection. Rather blow fuses rather than the SP:

    https://www.bluesea.com/products/5037/ST_Blade_Fuse_Block_-_6_Independent_Circuits

    And finding a waterproof case to house that, as well as relays...fabbing up something like Pelfreybilt's mount to mount the case to on top of the fuse box;

I was thinking of going the fused route too. I'm curious as to why you chose not to fuse anything coming off of the SP? Did you keep in line fuses to your accessories?

I have inline fuses on the higher draw accessories like the led light bar and the air compressor, but the low draw lights are direct. If you are below 18amps on each line 1-7 and less than 36 on the eight, you really don't need it. All the protections are built right in.

You can call the switch pro hotline Wednesday and ask them too. They are very available for questions like this. The number is on the top of their web site.

As for the blue sea terminal with 6 fuses, I'd run this to the truck bed so you can run accessories off of it. It can pull 100amps so I would either use a relay and only use the switch pro for on/off or just forego it for the bed fuse box and go direct to battery.

Now the burgers are very good... but for dessert... I recommend the ... "Salty Balls"... prepare for a nap after, they take it out of ya!

Hadn't thought about that... could just have "bed power" basically and then have it turn on the relay to the fuse block
