Hey guys - I'm in the process of removing a couple of rusty spots from my truck, but I would like some input/reassurance before I continue. I've dremeled away all of the patch that was bubbled up and it is now a level surface - there is nothing that still protrudes out from the level of the rest of the paint. However, the surface is really pitted - is this just because that is the part that wasn't eaten by the rust, or do I need to dremel/grind off more before I paint over it? AKA did I get all of the rust off?

Looks like you got it all. I would put some rust converter on the remaining little bit that appears to be there. Then paint away!

    yep..
Maybe a bunch of coats of filler primer and sanding will get that looking uniform, then standard painting procedure. I have similar rust where the step into the truck is. Planning on fixing it this summer.

Got it, thanks for the replies! That's exactly what I did - rust converter and then paint over top. For this section, I didn't make it look pretty and smooth it all out because it's not seen from the outside of the truck.
