Squeaky 2016 toyota tacoma sr5

My new 2016 toyoa tacoma sr5 2wd is squeaking very bad. I only drive it on the highway and in the neighborhood. Ive takenit in 3 eperate times and he sevice manager has told me it is a common problem that all they can do it was it with a rag and water! Does anyoneelse have this problem? If you do take ot in we need 55k people to make the comlaint before they recall the truck and have the parts fixed!

 

Find a new and competent dealer, or DIY for best results. And No, it is not common at all on any new vehicle.
I would invest $20 on a 1/2" torque wrench (harbor Freight) and crawl under and make sure the U-Bolts are torqued to 52lbs, make sure and use crisscross pattern or as you would a tire (X) four on each side.
It's the least the dealer should have done for you and even though it may not stop the squeak now, its a start and should be checked anyway.

Next you can bounce the vehicle and try to identify if its coming from the bushings at each end or in between the leafs.
If it was me, I would loosen the bushing bolts (at each end of springs) and bounce the vehicle and while on the ground with full normal load or weight I would tighten the bolts at each end of of springs. You can also try and spray some

$20 AT-205 Re-Seal Stops Leaks, 8 Ounce Bottle

AT-205 reseal all over them and between leafs, but no telling how long it will last.

The permanent fix is proper installation of suspension components using proper torque with the normal (or the one you will carry) vehicle load on while torquing all suspension components, problem solved.

Please do a search, many many people have had this issue. The resolution is to get them replaced under warranty.

 

LOL, no. It's not. It's to clean them. Replacement springs, under warranty, will get dirty just like the originals will, and will also need to be have their pads cleaned at some point. Welcome to owning a truck.

 

It is the answer, mine have been dirty cleaned many times since mine were replaced at 5,000 miles. I'm sitting at 25000 now with no issues. Mine would squeak so loud that over any little bump or imperfection they would make noise. You could press down on the back of the truck and hear it. Get them replaced.

 

Or, clean the pads in the proper way. Sorry boss, Toyota sent out a TSB to the departments instructing they clean the pads instead of replacing the springs.

That TSB was what most dealers try initially but when it keeps coming back they replace them. Even lubed, mine would still squeak. They cleaned and lubed mine and it still squeaked like hell, as a result mine were replaced. They discovered the bushings/pads themselves were shot and there was no specific part number and is why the replaced both springs.

 

Your bushings were not "shot" after 5k miles of use. Either you're lying about what was done/said, or your tech was lying.

Considering the Tech Tip came out in December and your post history claims yours were replaced last July, I'm inclined to believe the former.

 

You must have been the service manager at my dealer to make those claims. Not going to argue with someone who wants to start internet keyboard wars. Calling someone a liar when you don't know them doesn't make your statements any stronger. Welcome to ignore. The leaf springs were bad and did need replaced.
