Plus a normal tent leaks so much that it would be hard to not have circulating air from the outside.

Why not have both? I have tents for all occasions. A small 2 man eureka for my backpacking/biking/ solo trips. A Cabela's 4 season expedition for trips with the wife and dog when we may need the truck, and a Freespirit Adventure 55 RTT for those occasions. You are correct. Many pros and cons with all of them.

What are everyone's thoughts on those cheap pop up privacy shelters for showering? Are they even worth the 30 bucks or so?

I have a canopy with a sleeping platform in the back of my DCLB. I have a 4" thick memory foam full mattress on top of that and it's great. It's comfortable for me, my wife, and our two dogs. The only downside is it limits storage in the bed, but I guess that's what the roof rack is for.

Oh I didn't get it new. Plenty old. Put a new seal on the lid and bought new foam for it. I have about $140 into it.

I like that style over the fold out type awnings personally. Good find! Seems like it has more room for the shell rear door to go all the way up too. Price is hard to beat too.

It'll also lower by removing pole sections or removing the poles all together and sit on the ground. I ordered it will have Thursday the same day I pick up my new project I'll post it then

Yes absolutely worth it. Not just showering, I have used it more for a portable bathroom. Its great and the wife likes it too. Once you learn how to pack it up you'll use it more and more. The difference of knowing how to fold it up it taking 60 seconds to do so and loving the privacy tent vs. not being able to fold it up and hating it.

Totally worth it! We use ours for showers, toilet use and changing. I'd recommend getting one with some ventilation in the top portion because when it's hot or in direct sun, it tends to get really hot in mine.

I've been thinking about getting one of these as well. As much as I enjoy digging a hole and pooping in it (it's one of my favorite parts of camping after the beer) I'd really like to reduce my footprint in remote areas. Packing out my ALL my waste would be a good way to start. I'm often solo but sometimes I'm with a group and the tent thing would be nice.

I would tie them and then put them into a bag that was inside an old 50 cal ammo can. When we passed a dump site we'd toss that bag in and put a new liner in the can.

Now we are using a "Natures Head" composting toilet so things have changed a bit.

Not sure what waste bags you have access too but I've used these before http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/double-doodie-bags-0761507p.html#spc
The outer bag seems to be quite study/puncture resistant and I was also pretty impressed with the seal and wasn't terribly worried about leakage(still double bagged it though). That said I would still dispose of it ASAP.

The above also has a chemical gel inside to help turn the waste more solid so the chance of liquid leakage is reduced.

Ammo can is a good idea. I have an air tight container usually meant for pet food. I line that with a trash bag and all my trash goes in it- food/waste. The ammo can might be a better idea to keep the two separate so I don't have any surprises (unexpected cross contamination) while cooking and throwing away food scraps.

Also curious about wagbag usage. Those who use them, you throw them away at normal trash areas?

+1 on double doodie bags. The bucket and bags are on Amazon. Bags are serious, never had an issue with tossing them in my Trasharoo.
