Also if you are need a shell that you can remove by yourself- get a soft topper or bestop. I had one on the Taco. LOVED IT.

That hunting trip with the mule deer- I had my male GSP with me. Did some fur and feather hunting on that trip. I had no room to take my crate home- had to have my buddy cram it on his trailer. I actually had to cut that mule deer in half to fit him in the bed with my gear!

I kinda miss it a little.

Kinda like 'you miss that sick twisted crazy hot b*tch you used to date that screwed you like a power drill. But everything else about her sucked kinda way'.

I have a 190lb mastiff, drools like a beast so riding in the back seat was not happening, I got a shell, you can build a hoist for your garage, hoist it up to the rafters, no help needed. I have the shell boot reversed so the wind blows in the shell out the vent windows in the back, snug top super sport.

Dogs in back seat that's preposterous! Dogs belong in side cars....

we have 1 GSP female, 1/2 GSP/Lab (friend) and GSP female (friend) that we take along to socialize them down at the bark park. fitting 2 of them is a tight fit, 3 is impossible. for this reason we may be swapping to a tundra crew cab for more space in the back among other things. but this issue is one of the major factors the wife is looking at. she loves her dogs even though 2 do not belong to her.

The secret to fitting it in the back when its bigger than usual boils down to three things. 1) A girl that's onboard- this is key, don't skimp here. 2) Determination and 3) some extra KY.

....Oh wait you said *dogs*, not dongs.

Oh well, at least 2 of those still apply.

To add to everyone else. I have 1 GSP, decent sized, and 1 mutt that's a little smaller. I guess she is average size ~40-45lbs. They both fit just fine in the back seat. The GSP likes to run and jump in so he goes first usually so he doesn't run into the other one. I normally lay a seat cover that hangs between the rear headrests and the front headrests. Helps with fur a lot. Only issue if the nose prints on the window from the curious GSP. I normally let him stick his head out though or at least through the rear window.

I only have one pup at the moment. He is a #85ish Labahoula. Fit and trim at that wieght, belive it or not. :benchpress:

He rode in the backseat of my '04 Prerunner just fine with room to move.

I now have a '17 Lmtd, about 4 months now, and he has rode in it twice. Room was definately not a problem. With the seats folded down the platic seatbacks were like a slip and slide. He was not comfortable or happy riding that way. Then the with just a blanket thrown over the leather seats he was good but the blanket finished the ride crumpled in the floor as nothing but fear held it in the seat. I have not yeat built a proper seat cover/platform for him to use in the truck.

In the meantime, he absolutely loves riding on the wife's Kia as he get the back seat (seats folded down) and the cargo area to lounge in and loves being able see everything.

I doubt you will have trouble with your dogs being comfortable as long as you have a good cover or platform for them to ride on.

    Best of luck!

My 90# Weim and 65# GSP love my backseat, but I have the seats folded down and I built a carpeted platform for them too. There is also this option....

I've got a GSD too and bought a shell specifically for him so it keeps the dog hair out of the cab. Also comes in handy when said dog decides to jump in a algae covered ditch after his ball.

If you have a garage where you are moving, I rigged up a tie down strap system that lets me install / uninstall the cap by myself.

I basically copied this idea but mine was totally done on the cheap with 1x3's, eye bolts in the garage rafters and simple tie downs -- not as fancy as pictured but you get the idea.

I have an 85lb RR pup, and it wasn't long before he outgrew the access cab. The hammock worked very well for both pups a while.

No way he's fitting back there now, but the aussie will always fit. Personally, I wouldn't want them inside anyway ... scratching the shit out of everything. I never liked caps on trucks, but I still got one ... ultimate doggo solution for me.

I have a 110 lb Chesapeake Bay Retriever and a 100 lb Great Pyrenees and they both fit in the back seat with the seats down without the headrests (completely flat). It's definitely tight, but we've taken them camping where they sleep in the back at night and we have had zero issues. Ideally, I would put them in the bed with a cap, but can't justify the cost.

Would recommend laying down something soft for the dog to lay on back there. Some people have built simple dog beds; I've used inflatable beds in the past.

What state? Bed toppers and dogs don't work well in the heat.

Get a good hammock for the back seat and you'll be good with the dogs. They range from $20-170.

I'm moving to north Georgia for 3 years and then off to Colorado Springs. I actually don't mind fur or drool in the car but if they are able to get in the backseat I'll have bedding etc. to keep them comfortable.
