Aren't larger tires on stock gears less power/more fuel efficient?

are you correcting for the tire roll out difference ?

you're going further for each rotation, you're going further but burning more to compensate.

There is a crossover where the roll out vs energy use becomes a wash and then a loosing battle

Yea I'm correcting for the size and rotation. Problem is the stock tire is a 225/75 and I've got 305/70 lol. Quite a difference

Doesn't that only really apply to the speedometer? How much would it matter to an odometer reading? I'm reasearching and finding very little lol.

it effects both, tire roll out, a taller tire covers more distance per revolution, if the speedo isn't celebrated for the roll out your speed is actually faster at indicated speed as each revolution goes further

your 4.10:1 ratio is the same, 4.1 revolutions of drive shaft for each revolution of the axle/wheel/tire the speedo doesn't see the change unless the calibration for tire size has been made in the ECM or in older vehicle by changing the drive gear on trans.

https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=225-75r16-305-70r16 a tire size calculator will show you this

Those tire numbers are actually from my post not his.

So you're right but as far as mileage is concerned (the original question) it doesn't get better with larger tires.

Yes it effects a lot of things. Honestly my speedo is so off I use my phone when on the highway just to be safe.

Mine is about 1.8 mph off with 285/75/16s. Not horrible. How much is yours off?
