Shocked me as well ... figured it to be a close game. I did like the over though.

After losing the Texas series, I told the wife I'd be happy if we could just get one of our historically most reliable hitters, Alex Gordon, and our "Designated Hitter" Moss both above .200 by the end of the year.

Well, in just one week, they are now both above .200 suddenly knocking the cover off the ball, we just got our 3rd walk-off win since the last game of Texas, 28th come from behind win which leads the AL, and . . . we are now tied for 2nd with the Twinkies just a game and a half out of first.

I'm not sure my heart can stand the way we are winning though . . . meh, I can think of worst ways to go, I guess?

When it's beyond a 100 and freakin hot out, what the hell else you gonna do?

OK, I promise I will shut the hell up for a while . . . after this of course! Don't worry, not going to give you a game by game analysis [like it kinda seems lately?]

Disclaimer aside: We just got our 4th walk off win today in the last 8 games, swept the lowly White Sox, and got our 30th come from behind win to still lead MLB. On the one hand, you love the never quit attitude and simply the ability and confidence to continue to even do that but, per my doubts I expressed much earlier in the year on the Royals' post season chances, having 3/4 of your wins "come from behind" is not by itself a great virtue to have and combined with needing this many walk offs to win will eventually come back to haunt them as the teams still in the hunt are narrowed down to just the few that you MUST beat to to take that next step.

So, love the Royals' effort but it is still the same holes they had in April that are requiring all the come from behind and walk off nonsense that as a fan is SO exciting. Granted, that "parity" word applies here again too but there have been very few games from the opening pitch that Royals have just dominated and that is a problem. One game, they might have come back to win but their starting pitching sucked, another game their short relief sucked, another their setup or closer blew the save, or yet another but usually against the upper echelon pitching they cannot score.

But, despite my doubts, I do hope it continues . . .

Owe you a beer, Toy33! Thanks for the comeback win . . .

I know I said I'd shut up but any interesting trades to share?

Since 2 out of 3 holes we have involve pitching, they are at least trying to fill those holes. Nice that KC management is in the buying, not selling mood.

    https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/...p-on-arms-in-six-player-deal-with-the-padres/

Especially since we lost Karns for the year, I know Cahill should be worthwhile.

Don't know much about the other two but they appear to be power arms.

Of course, we gave up Strahm, power tall lanky lefty with some Chris Sale comparisons. But, we have Skoglund in the farm system that is nearly a Chris Sale clone so maybe they figured we didn't need two?

EDIT: Oh, that, and we came back again and won in 12 tonight at Detroit . . .
    Sorry, couldn't help it!

Indeed, they are getting timely hits/hr's to stay in the race. Looks like they want some insurance and make a good push !

LA's big gun is going on DL for a bit, which the rest could be helpful come playoff time ... LA has more than enough fire power to keep the blue crew on a steady pace.

I called it before All-Star break, could be an all blue WS this year !

Yeah, a couple of Houston studs are going down (DL) for a bit but they and the Dodgers can collectively take about a month off and still be in it given their divisional leads. Good time to heal some owees as long as they aren't serious?

Royals White Sox and Tigers back to back!

Got to see 2 of the 3 Padre pitchers in game action already.

Maurer and Buchter look like they have pretty decent stuff for our somewhat questionable pen . . .

Third acquisition Cahill will start game 2 against the Red Sox.

I think the Red Sox will tell us where KC is really at? Needless to say, the White Sox and Tigers are not very good right now.

Could someone PLEASE beat the Indians? Pretty please?

Holy crap, dude, has he ever. I think Nunez has only NOT gotten a hit twice now in 2 games. Batting over .800. The Royals won the first game and we had this one won but thanks to his 2 HRs and a walkoff hit, Boston won tonight. Now, we really had 3 errors though I think they only scored 1, and like 5 pass balls just in the extra frame that certainly didn't help . . . but Boston was having their share of screw ups too.

Winning streak ends at 10. I am depressed . . . not because we finally lost a game but . . . because, of course, the Indians won . . . again! They got a walk in the winning run with a base's loaded hit batter win against the White Sox.

Now, someone did something similar to that for the Dodgers in extra innings back before the break . . . I forget who

Soapbox: We had 2 runners called out at 2nd that were safe but for some reason the idiots in New York didn't have enough time to overrule the calls. Um, you could have overruled the one call with what the fans in Boston saw on the big screen. Even Nunez and Bogaerts were shaking their heads at 2nd base on that one. Both calls were not confirmed but just "allowed to stand". I think the time limit just expired and I understand that the replay does need some kind of time limit. Thanks to almost everyone it seemed going 3-2 at the plate before they walked, struck out, or got a hit, the game was over 4 hours long the way it was.

Anyone know why the Dodgers thought they needed Darvish? I mean he was arguably Texas' best but Dodger pitching was already pretty solid. Or, did they lose someone that I didn't hear about? Darvish could not possibly have been cheap . . .

Thanks to Red Sox for beating the Indians but naturally . . . we lose 2-1 to the Orioles so net nothing for the Royals. We don't win without 4 runs. It is just an unwritten rule for the Royals.

We picked up Melky though from the White Sox which may help one of our two hitting holes. Of course, he goes 0-4 tonight.

Kershaw is out at the moment, doesn't seem like anything serious but why not add some more fire power??:notsure:

Yeah, I heard about "resting" Kershaw but it sounded more like "hey we are up 30 games, why not rest him?" Plus Darvish is a righty if they actually are worried about Kershaw?

I mean more arms is better than less but I just found it to be a head scratcher . . . could be they have intention of signing him at the end of the season. Just going to use him to beef up the playoff run?
