too bad its next to impossible to find a 255 85 16 or 255 80 17 in anything besides an E rated.

If I could find some black steelies in a 15" wheel 7" width with the correct offset I would strongly consider that route. It appears that 255/85/15 in a C load are available.

Will a 15 inch rim fit on the 3rd Gen? Does the brake caliper get in the way?

No it won't. I tried to bolt up my 33x9.5's R15 BFG AT's and they wouldn't clear the caliper. The rims were 15x7 with 3.75" BS if I remember correctly. Tires in order 33x9.5 R15 BFG AT, 265/70R17 Duratrac, 265/70R16 Wrangler.

I'm back with another question. Has anyone put on chains with 255s on? Do they clear?

So by buying my 16" Method NVs with 8" width and 0 Offset, I screwed myself?

Idk how those compare in size to the stock wheels, you'll have to let us know how it works out I guess. I don't know anything about other setup fitments than what I did, unfortunately

You'll likely rub at least somewhere. Those stock out 2" farther than stock.

Anyone here try 255/80r17 on a 3rd gen with no lift?

The wheels I'm looking at are the 4runner TRD Pro which are 17x7 with +4mm offset.

The stock TRD OR wheel are 16x7 with +25mm offset.

I plugged these numbers in and got this:

If I'm reading this correctly I think this means that the TRD Pro wheels shouldn't have any problem rubbing on suspension since they stick further out??

Any advice would be helpful as I have no idea what I'm doing

I think it is generally accepted that it will clear the suspension, but we aren't sure about fender. Looking into similar stuff as you.

Thanks for the response, it seems the 255/80r17 is way cheaper then the 85r16 so I think I'm gonna splurge and get new wheels as well haha

Part of learning requires that someone has to be a guinea pig :). That's what @Sandytaco14 and I did with this size.

Just get what you want and make it fit then tell us all what you had to do. Otherwise it will just keep being all speculation and no actual data

FYI....I just did a search on this size and I found that right now you can get 4 of them from Walmart for $523.03 +tax if you pick them up!

I'm just happy I don't feel obligated to try to answer questions about a tire size that I have no clue about because it's not what I bought or made the thread about lol
