Yeah, I should have taken it to a mechanic first. I was just in a rush cause my F150 had just crapped out and I was in my wife's truck trying to bring something home before she had to go to work. I think my biggest mistake was buying on the reputation of the brand vs. the quality of the particular vehicle.

If I find a quality replacement and someone makes an offer I'd be all ears. I just think it'd be hard to make any money off of it after laying out it's issues so publicly :annoyed:

If I was paying a shop to do this work I might as well pay them to tow it to the scrapyard

You can't have a fucking "lemon" that's over 20 years old.
People like to throw that term around these days.

If I where you I'd of not replaced the head when it blew a gasket and just put a new motor in it I think it'd be fine then

I bought the F150 when I was 16 with 185,000 and sold it for scrap at 288,000 five years later after I had changed every auxiliary component on that truck outside the drivetrain. The motor and tranny in that thing never went no matter how much went wrong on it

This. It's too late now, better keep pouring money into that sunk cost!!

Just kidding. But I'd park it for a bit and go over every little detail with a fine tooth comb. Flush the radiator, change the engine oil, tranny oil, transfer case fluid, differential fluid, etc, etc. Clean the entire engine bay, looking for any leaks or parts that look worn, like bushings, accessory belt, U joints, torn CV's, etc. Make a list and add up the prices, and decide if it's worth it to replace/repair it all and end up with a good truck at the end of it. Sounds like the previous own bought into the 'toyota's last forever' mantra and did zero preventative maintenance. You just have some catching up to do, that's all.
