    3/4 - 1" topper foam is for across the front section of the bed only. You should be using 1/8 - 1/4" for the rest. It is obvious that the foam is too thick because you are bending the aluminum where the clamps are placed.

    Wrong foam that's all. $15 dollars at lowes/ home depot/ or menards.

    I got rid of the rail caps. The top is now nicely down evenly all round. 1/4 inch foam and bolts and the clamps are in the bin.

    Much better install!

    I have a commercial shell on my 2003 double cab. Most of the flush mount fiberglass ones are designed to have a lip that is just on the exterior of the shell to hide the gap at the bed rails, where as the commercial ones do not.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1438911374.887501.jpg

    I am thinking your ARE has a nicer seal on the tailgate than my Leer.

    It looks like the ARE's back door is taller/goes lower than the LEER, which allows for more overlap with less external seal like yours.

    @PeterVICEG ,

    got any more picture of your setup? I've got a fiber Leer right now but have been more and more inclined to move to a aluminum setup mike yours.

    I don't have a full on side view and have forgotten the amount of rise in the canopy. Sadly this rig was wrecked last year so I am unable to take more pics.IMG_0474.jpg

    Thanks Peter! this is helpful.

    Would you the front of the cap was the same height as the Tacoma cab height?

    Yes the cap was about the same hight as the cab. My sleeping platform has two levels. Most headroom and comfort in the lower level but still usable on the top of bed side level. For sure less road noise than a cap with no wedge.
