So I got my Pelfreybilt front and high clearance rear. This is what I mark as the start of the build, since I have to chop my 2016 (or rather I'm paying someone else to handle that). While the bumpers actually cost less than the A.R.E topper I put on, that required no real mod. So I thought I would start out with a few shots of the bumper getting primed and painted. I used Krylon Pro Red Oxide Primer (which is much browner than the pictures will lead you to think), and Krylon Pro Flat Black. This is meant to be two fold. A, it is super easy to touch up, and B, it has a distinct color change from primer to top coat. This makes it easy to see needed touch up areas, as well as aid in top coating.

Well I have a while (or till it rains) to flip or move the rear at this point so update when I can.

So got to flip and finish coating the rear. First light in the morning the front gets the top coat.

Are you applying coatings per SSPC PA 1?

LOL, I'm gonna guess no. But I worked at a paint store for 8 years, so I did my prep. Started with raw clean wiped down steel. Sanded any rust that had formed ( just surface stuff on a beam of or two), tack clothed it, and the surrounding area. Then fog coated the primer till I got the coverage as I wanted it. Same so far for the top coat. Have had a drip of run in non vital areas. With that said, keep in mind this is meant as a "sacrificial" style coating. As the cheap top coat gets dinged or worn it is easy to use a spray shield and mist some back on.

So I assume you adhered to the requirements set for in SSPC SP-2, Hand Tool Cleaning to prep your surface? Otherwise I will have to ask the Mods to remove your post.

Your either a really bad at trolling forums Barcelona, or you go do what you feel you need too and leave my build post outta your sad life. Which ever is correct one thing remains the same, assuming is a horrible thing to do with someone you don't know! ;P

While we wait, here are some shots of my stock 3rd gen killing it on the still being built easement road to my land...

Even the actual road that leads in is kinda rough in spots...

The last of the pre-built road...everything from here on in is hand made by my friends and I.

This last shot is the "driveway" and officially my land....time to hit camp

    Takes alot of this.....

    To make this......

Action shot on the way out

Welcome to TW. I'm sure your paint will be fine, regardless of what standards you use!!!!!!!!

Glad to be here. The bumpers are bumpers...spray painted bumpers. I'm sure they will be fine. I just can't wait to get them on next week, and have shots of it for everyone next week end.

I rattle can'd my Avid bumper gaurd. 2 coats of Rust-Oleum automotive dark primer, followed by 3 coats of gloss black. I wanted it to match the finish of my N-Fab step tubes.

Nothing wrong with rattle cans with good prep and careful application

Sliders are near last actually. Next is suspension lift and upgrade followed by 33 tall skinny tires. Then sliders, a rack for the cab, and a rocket box for the camper shell rack. Then who knows..
