Customers house burned down this mourning. Everyone is ok. One of the poorest built homes I've ever worked on.

My neighbor had new windows installed and they were just going to throw out the old ones (vinyl, dbl pane). We have a screen porch that we want to weather proof so we've been looking for old windows - very lucky to get these. Problem is, as you can see in the picture, there is no nailing flange. Anyone have some suggestions on how to secure these in place? The openings are just 2x4's...

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I put vinyl replacements in my new barn. All are out of the weather, so I wasn't too concerned about that. Just build in a stop molding, in my case the metal J-channel. Then install as the article above states. Or purchase the nail flange, as they may have the channels built in already.

Never seen vinyl windows who's frames were screwed together. Usually they are welded.

Tile is going up in the master bath! Shower should be mostly done today and the Ditra Heat mat installed on the floor. I'll wire it up tonight and tomorrow the floor tile goes in. It's been a long, procrastinated process. I'll be glad to have it done.

Planning on replacing our old deck with either a new composite deck or a bluestone/bluestone paver patio. Trex is going to run about $6000 for material. I'm leaning towards a patio but I'll have to backfill a a bit since where our French doors are the slope drops a few feet towards where the patio would end.

Anyone have a preference on a deck vs patio, along with what buyers would prefer for resale down the road?

I vote patio. I hate my "deck". For me unless its a front porch or an actual deck (ie 8+ feet in the air type deal) Im never doing anything but a patio again. My back deck is all of 2 feet off the ground so it just feels like a confined small space (even though its decent sized overall). I'd much rather have a nice patio thats open to the grass and a set of stairs down to it if needed.

That's the way I'm leaning. I have a massive maple tree right where the patio would go. Adding 1-3ft of backfill over the existing roots would be enough to prevent cracking/ the pavers shifting?
