I have 2016 Access Cab Sr 5 4X4. Im looking to either do a CAI( S&B, Afe or TRD in order of favoritism.not thinking K&n because i wheel to much) or exhaust set up. I haven't quite decided which one yet. Im looking to make my beast sound more like a beast lol and if i can get boosted performance then that would be awesome to. I have read a ton on the forums on the topics so i know there is a lot of haters of CAI. one thing is I do have a 125,000 miles 7 year wrap around warrenty. So I'm trying to avoid giving them to many reasons to give me shit on the warranty if i ever have problems. Another concern I have is that because I do like to go out wheeling a bit is that an exhaust might mess with my clearance. Looking for Pro V.s. Cons. And im not trying to kill the bank to much.
    Thank you everyone!!!

Make sure to search around on youtube for sound.

CAI's provide and nice throttle sound up front, but some of the cheaper ones will cause a loud "drone" in the cabin on the Taco's. I would only suggest an AFE intake right now.

The exhausts on these trucks aren't for everyone, I have yet to hear any tacoma that sounds good with exhaust, but the general consensus right now is the TRD exhaust is not worth the money. Look towards magnaflow for this, again check youtube.

Im having trouble finding unbiased sound clips lol. Im thinking S&B or Afe. Why would you do AFE??

There is a used magnaflow cat back exhaust for 450 i was looking at.

I work on Taco's and the AFE is the quality and sound that I like to see from an aftermarket, I can't stand the K&N intakes, they are cheap and rattle the interior.

I'd say go with the exhaust as long as you've heard it, but hang on to the oem exhaust.

put on the MBRP cat back turn down exhaust with the additional resonator too try to cut down on drone but its still loud. if my stock shit didnt have holes in it i would have stayed with it.

Anything other than stock exhaust on this truck sounds like shit, and even stock doesn't sound great.

You will become what everyone hates if you rice out this truck.

Wont that make it super loud? Could that mess up the warranty at all?

your only chopping it like a foot or two short, just enough so its not routing out behind the rear tire. the stock muffler will still be in place un touched. i cant imagine this minor change would void warranty. you might see a slight increase in noise but only because its dumping under truck and not out the side. but with stock muffler it is probably minimal.

No sound difference, better departure. Don't think it'll mess up the warranty

What do you mean by departure? Are you referring to having more clearance in the back for off roading?

If money isn't an issue look into the URD Spec U exhaust kit.. it eliminates 2 of the cats and get rid of the factory y pipe that hangs low and can get dinged while off roading

Exactly, every aftermarket exhaust for this 3.5 does not sound good at all.

I have the s&b cai and a flowmaster 40 series exhaust. I really enjoy both and they compliment each other real well...

That being said.. If i had to choose only 1... The exhaust.. Hands down my favorite mod.

I looked at loads of exhaust and finally settled on a delta flow... But when i got to the muffler shop i listened to a (iirc) dodge dakota that just had a regular 40 installed... 6cyl as well... Sounded great! The guy told me either would be about the same price but if i wanted that deep low bassy sound i should get the regular 40... I did and love it. When i traded my 2016 in for a 2017 the first thing i did was another 40 series.

Bullshit. My truck sounds like a real truck. But feel free to enjoy your moped. :D
