Finally figured out the p0101 code/ truck running dangerously lean. So I ripped the bed off to gain access ( that's a pain in the ass too) Popped the top and low and behold my high pressure fuel line off the pump was barely attached. Secured that down with all stainless hose clamp. Put it all back together and now the truck is running really rich! Will take some time to adjust back to normal I'm sure but seems like I've cured the issue. Didn't take any photos of it, only one I took was with the bed off to get a top shot of my homemade traction bar. Guess we can chalk the p0101 code up as solved again. :thumbsup:20170722_084932.jpg

@memario1214 had the same issue with his fuel hose. He can add specifics to how his lacked in operation.

Me personally, 4 different pumps, and never an issue. Just to add an opposite side of the story.

Haven't had issue with it and installed over a year ago. Glad I got it fixed though. Racetronix wants 30$ minimim order. IIRC summit racing has the corrugated tubing and you can find it on eBay too

Can't ever ask the right question, unless you know what to ask. ;)

If Summit or anyone else has it, it is a worthy option.

Ha I had TWO different fuel hose issues. First one was this exact same deal. The high pressure line on the top of the tank came off katty-wompus as I was slow pulling a hill and the truck was getting intermittent power as you can imagine. Could smell gasoline once I had pulled over to the side of the road, but reaching up there could not identify the issue until the tank was dropped again.

My second issue that occurred about 1000 miles of driving later was that when I had installed the high pressure line onto my new fuel pump I apparently tightented the clamp on too tight and what ended up happening was that the high pressure line split right at the nipple on the pump. This made some weird symptoms as the truck would still run at barely above idle (at first), but then eventually was no dice. Whilst laying on the side of the road one of the diagnostic measures was to disconnect the line from the external fuel pump to see if there was pressure when cranking. Sure there was. Turns out it was only pushing 7 psi...

For this reason, is why I feel having a fuel pressure gauge, at least in the engine bay, tapped into the adapter, is a very good troubleshooting tool.

I can monitor AFR with the torque app. For this reason, if or when I get gauges- it will be the fuel pressure and boost. Thanks again for helping me trouble shoot.

    My Turn. P0101

Hello, anybody?? Thought I’d post here before starting a new thread

I have an 08 Tacoma and The check engine light has come on for a day every couple weeks or so in the four months I’ve owned this vehicle . Initially I focused on the gas cap. When the light came on I’d twist it and it would go off later. I eventually bought a new cap.
Yesterday the light came on again & I got the code and it’s this P0101. I’ve given everything that’s easy a visual examination. Wires appear intact, I saw a couple vacuum lines plugged in....

My only symptom is a poor initial startup. I have to feather a little gas the first second for a stable start. Plugs are new. Filter looks Snow White. One can of Sea foam. All in all the engine is smooth and quiet.

    Thanks for any advice

Do you have some one you can trade mafs with? Or have you cleaned the maf? I swapped mine to narrow it down to the oiled air filter as the problem

    I don’t believe so.

Closest Toyota dealer is an hour.

My filter doesn’t appear like one I saw earlier on here. Mine is a big square about an inch thick. It doesn’t appear to be oiled.

    Truck runs fine I suppose.

I’ve tried to look at issues presented by others in the thread, with nothing standing out.

I purchased this from a GM dealer. If they replaced the filter without oil would that be an issue?

    Thanks

No it wont be a issue you are running the factory air filter it should not be oiled. You can pull the maf sensor and clean it with a can of electronics cleaner like crc brand.

No, I don’t know anyone with this truck.

I’m enjoying the thing but this light is taking the fun out.

It’s been on 50 miles or so this time which is becoming a longer period.

The truck runs well. Just idles around quiet as can be.

    136,000 miles.

I bought from a GM dealer who has changed the filter. Do you or does anyone imagine they could have handled it rough and dislodged a wire in the clip connection?
The connection itself looks clean without issues.

I’ll try a better inspection tomorrow.

I’m gonna price the sensor in a minute and might replace it. BUT,, the truck is running fine. I’m Thinking the sensor is working ok without having any fuel issues.

Y’all set me straight & Thanks

Do you have any loose or cracked vacuum hoses?

Do you have any loose clamps around the MAF sensor?

I looked at a plug a month ago and got a fair look at vacuum lines and all appeared a nice pliable rubber . A good look without a crack anywhere.

    Nothing loose. Thanks Torspd.

I’ve gone over the thread & I’m checking the replies against whatever ails me.

The truck wasn’t started for about a week and went to the store and today no light. Yay.
The truck continues to run the same with the light on or off.

See you in a few days.

Ok gentleman..... After about 75 miles the light’s back on. It has been around 90 every day and zero rain. Not even a mud puddle.

    What to do??
