Good timing, I actually had to perform one of these hard accelerations on a turn scenarios this morning and experienced a major stumble trying to get across the intersection. No afterfire but definitely a loss in ignition. Interesting that I've had numerous hard pulls in a straight line with no stumble, but when turning, the stumble was there. Almost like a steering angle sensor working with traction control to cut ignition if there's too rapid a throttle input change to avoid a loss in traction preemptively. Frustrating, for sure.

Felt the same this weekend myself. Pulling left out of my neighborhood into a flow of fast moving traffic - needed to accelerate quickly and as I was pulling out it felt like I lost all throttle momentarily. Was scary, but then it did return before I got hit and I was able to get up to speed WOT. Nice little pucker factor...

I didn't notice the steering get heavier, but I also wasn't decreasing the radius...my steering was already turned at the angle I needed.

I still have weird bouts where some "days" my steering is super-light - like I could drive the truck all day with a single finger barely turning the wheel. Other days it's heavier and sometimes on turns where it loses throttle I also feel the steering get heavy. Though the "roughness" hasn't returned post CKP it still steering inconsistently which never seems to make sense.

I get this same feeling. Doesn't change that I've noticed with the stuttering during a turn, but sometimes I'll get in the truck and the steering feels oddly heavy almost to the point it's annoying. Only happens every once and a while.

I'm far from an engineer, but that's one thing that I never hear anyone on here complain about much but it was one of the first things that drove me bonkers prior to my CKP replacement. My steering would get really heavy and then at times felt like there was no pressure (or not enough) in the steering system and I would literally feel every little bump or dip in the road harshly through my steering wheel and no lie would arrive with my hands a bit numb as a result. If I switched fuel - to anything other than what I was running, it would subside for a little bit before returning to this terrible state. When I replaced my CKP in my garage and started up the truck (I had my wheels turned to the left so I could access the sensor easily) and turned my wheel back to center I INSTANTLY felt an easiness I had never felt in the steering. That easiness still is there 50% of the time but the heaviness is now intermittent as well, however the harsh pulsing from the road hasn't returned (aside from the slight 2k buzz many are familiar with).

I'm hoping smarter minds than mine can some day explain why this steering is so intermittent and how fuel types and/or sensor data could be impacting steering performance. But I suspect this correlation sounds like crazy talk.... but it's my experience.

It really can't impact it. It's a hydraulic system...it a crank ran accessory and so long as the crank it turning, no fuel/sensor variation should have any impact to it....gotta be placebo

Ha - yep, that's what I would have thought as well. It's not placebo. highly noticeable difference and hopefully at some point the correlation between power delivery will be unearthed if others experience similar issues. like I say for me, now, I'm fine w/ it - wish it were more consistent but it's fun to drive for the most part. Facts for me were pre CKP vs. post CKP massive difference in the steering. period. Probably not directly CKP related but my suspicion is since so many other calculations depend on the sensor data from the CKP that something downstream could have been impacted - but again, only speculation. I can't explain why, only the experience and it was so drastically different it wasn't a sugar pill ;)

I have not tried switching fuels nor have I noticed it change with anything in specific it just seems like sometimes its horribly heavy and sometimes its fine. Hasn't been too light as I notice when I drive our 2016 Tundra it is light. When I first test drove a Tacoma I remember hating how heavy the steering was, but then trying another one a couple weeks later and the steering felt normal. Figured it was just that truck, but now I notice mine doing the same thing.

Mine has zero variability in steering feel..yours have to have pump or rack problems and any correlation to what fuel you're running or what sensor was replaced has got to be coincidence. There's just no physical way for them to be related that I can envision.

No correlation between fuel and steering post CKP - that was prior to CKP. I had the steering inspected prior to CKP and all was stated to be "normal" in the steering. Now it's not the crazy fuel variability nor harshness, just the occasional heaviness and other times really "easy" steering under same conditions, load, fuel, etc., Not a huge deal honestly to me and I'm living with it. Sometimes when parallel parking or something it will be heavy and that can be slightly annoying but it's not always an issue and any minor annoyances I have now are 10% of what plagued my experience the first several months. Just fine tuning now... ;)

Just went threw same exact stuff ended up being a bad Gass line pulling air rather then gas also could be a fuel pump more then likely the problem if it's not on the dash for anyone with this same problem has a lot to do with there "hose clamps"

Take it in for service. They might be able to pull data from the computer to see what the issue was.

Please note the original post is 18 months old, and it was on a new-at-the-time truck.

So what model was whatever you are trying to describe your experience with? A third gen? Or older?
