Help me with some ideas. I need to fix this asshole headliner. Even if I I tuck it back in it immediately pops out like this (thanks dealer).

I've tried gaffer tape. But that weatherstrip is impervious to tape. Anything I stick on it just falls off.

I was thinking taking off the weather strip, apply a very fine strip of glue, then put weather strip back on and stick it to the headliner.

A replacement is too expensive. Maybe someone has ran into this type of thing before?

Isn't your truck still under warranty? Let Toyota fix it.

Dude demand satisfaction. Make it Toyota's problem. Sounds like a real pain to fix and if it were me it would have glue fucking handprints and syrup all over it when I was done. Hopefully you're not like me, and better yet, hopefully you just take it to the dealer.

I did. They said no. I called corporate. They opened a case. They also said no.

Everyone always says open a case. It's that's easy. But in reality unless you find the right dealer it's a total waste of time. And I don't have time to visit every dealer in America until I find the right one. ;)

Sorry if that sounds rude. This is a sore subject with me. Enough that I refinanced my truck away from Toyota and will never buy another Toyota thing for the rest of my life. :D

Sorry for your pain, been involved with a lemon in the past - no fun when no one will step up.

Go to your choice hardware store. Look at their selection of rubber gaskets, door seals, weather stripping. What you need is something not too wide, in black that you can tuck under the gasket, but will stick out just enough to hold down the edge of the headliner. Or you could get funky, find something in a contrasting color, or a string of led lights.... Another option is to find online the correct gasket for your truck - the one you have. Then whoever carries that will carry different ones for all cars - find a wider version of your gasket on their website & just replace what you have with a wider version.

Surprised the dealer gave you the brush off. Maybe head over to the audio section of the forum. I know some have installed sound deadening material on the inside of the roof, I'm sure they would know what it takes to remove/install the headliner properly.

I'm wondering if it's just shifted over too far and not catching.

They all are cut short.. almost to the rubber weather stripping...minimal overlap. Mine gets untucked sometimes. I would run a flat peice of rubber molding 3/4") sandwiched between the weatherstripping and headliner.

I would drop the headliner down. It's a solid single piece up there. There is a thread on how to get it down. Fairly simple actually. The little hook in the back above the rear window just turn I think and it unlocks the liner
The in the front where the visor catch hook are the other two. Turn those and then pop off the driver side pillar and the other side with os handle is a 10 mm bolt. Believe one is on driver side also. Adjust headliner and reinstall.
@mesojdm can you help me out here. I am doing a horrible job of explaining this.
Edit I see you posted above me by seconds lol

Who knows. There isn't much room to move it. Before I took it to the dealer it wasn't that bad. Only an inch or so would fall out. Whatever tech looked looked at it made it 10x worse. Now that whole side falls out immediately.

I'm wondering if you took it out and dampened it in that area then bent it back and let it dry if it would at least stay in there better. Maybe use a hair dryer or something to remould it. Does that make sense?

That's partly what I was thinking but wasn't sure how well it would hold up. I figured that would fall out too. I'll try it though.

Makes sense. With how tight everything is I figured there wasn't really any adjustments you could make.

You would have to rip the old material off. And use contact cement in a spray gun(that's what the pros use). But doubl check with an upholster shop

I redid my wrx headliner with galaxy print fabric. Almost installed led's for stars but never pulled it back out to finish.

@GHOST SHIP can you help this gentleman understand his headliner?

You can rewrap the headliner, you'd need to refoam it and wrap the foam around that side and also the material. That would give it enough to go behind the weather stripping.

Or you can check a auto wrecker and see if they happen to have a Tacoma that was wrecked that the curtain airbags didn't go off and you can probably score one somewhat cheap
