If eating is your thing... Listen to what @phx13 said... little miss BBQ is hands down a must if you want BBQ in Phoenix. Obviously, theres mexican joints to check out though... Top of my list for Phoenix is Gallo Blanco that just opened up... If you do sonoran dogs in Tucson, check out El Guero Canelo... or if you want to splurge a bit check out a place in downtown Tucson called Penca - holy fuck!

What other activities you looking for? Whiskey bars, arts/entertainment, hiking, culture, etc... More info needed to be able to make suggestions...

Hope this BBQ can compete with what we have in the southeast.

Hiking would be nice. I'd really just like to experience the different landscape as much as I can.

Little Miss will compete I promise...

As for hiking... keep in mind it's summer temps around here... Most people go in the mornings... If you want an urban hike check out camelback mountain... It's in the center of town and has some rad city views. If you want something less-urban head north of Phoenix up by the rim or around Sedona/Flagstaff.

    Have fun!

If you want to hike I would suggest Bell Rock in Sedona. Also The Natural Bridge in Payson. I am sure some of the more active hikers will come in with some other suggestions.

Los Dos Molinos if you want some good messican in the Valley. There is one in south Phoenix as well. Family owned and some if not most of the food there will burn the ass out of ya.
    But its worth it...

Shit even going to a Ranch Market will get you some real mexican food and its good and cheap!

BBQ out here can most certainly compete coming from a guy who spent almost 30 years growing up in AL, GA, TN, TX.

Careful, you may end up like @Daria and never want to leave. AZ is a good place and you just cant beat the weather 8 months out of the year. The other 4 months it just forces you to head up to pine country, and lets be real, thats not so bad either.

If you got the cash flow, Phoenix by winter, Flag/Williams by summer.

Little Miss is legit one of the top 5 BBQ spots in the country and that's coming from people much more in tune with the scene than I am. Scott knows his shit.
