Received a chipped aftermarket wheel. Cause for return?

    From others research it appears that they are not illegal per se'. It depends on a lot of variables and granted it is probably not a good idea to run them on the street. Too many things to go wrong and injure someone.

    In the event of an accident I'm sure the insurance company would LOVE to learn your wheels aren't DOT approved. :homer:

    I live in an off-road enthusiast area and it's pretty well known to not run them on the street. If your vehicle REALLY needs them it's probably better to trailer it to the trail anyways. :notsure:

    Plus it seems kinda ridiculous to run them on a basically stock daily driver...

    If it was on the face I might consider returning it, but being that the mark is on the inside I'd just keep it and avoid the hassle of a return. The wheels are bound to get dinged up in the dirt anyways.

    Wow I've been living In phoenix for over a year now. Everyone and their mom drives an off-road vehicle and I havnt heard of this. Learn something new every day.

    My new wheels also had a similar chip on one wheel, damaged during shipping. I just sent it back and they replaced it from me.

    Since it is new, you should get it in perfect condition.
