I have witnessed someone who isn't properly trained or aware of actual operation where they lifted a mini van (Aerostar) by the rockers, resulted in about $2500 damage and very unhappy customer.
From that point "Service Consultants" were discouraged from "helping" techs move and prep vehicles.

But then, if you've ever seen a GM frame, you know the newer (2000+) has a coating on it, I've seen lift pads slide on the frame rail because of the wax like coating, scary shit when you're under the vehicle and it shifts on the rack

To be fare to the guy, if he has lifted other minivans maybe he thought it was a unibody. Weren't the Astros and Aerostars the last of the body on frame minivans?

Seen the same picture on Facebook with this explaination:

"The person that took this picture contacted us with the real story. Customer came in for an insurance frame swap. Mechanic threw a few body mount bolts in it loosely and lifted it up to put the rest in and tighten. The frame dropped out from under it and drug the body down with it nearly crushing two employees. Nobody got hurt and the customer and dealership owner took a walk through the lot in search of a new Tahoe."

Thanks, that certainly sounds plausible. Now we need another mystery!

What's crazy is I've seen quite a few urinal turds on deployment. Still a mystery....

Aerostar was unitized body, had formed rails under floor pan, the sides were too deep to support weight on the pinch seam.
Astro vans had a sub frame like a Camero or Nova. Drop the whole front end to change out engine is the fastest way.
