I have read some reviews on the Colorado where they rave about how great the interior is. I look at it and think WTF, it looks cheap to me.

Just see how much the hit is in 2 years. Might see what the cost per mile actually is when you trade. I'm sure Chevy will give you more for a used Tacoma than Toyota will give you for a used Chevy. What you pay aand what you get is two different things.

Test drive both and buy which one you prefer. I am not going to bad mouth either truck. No sense in spending that kind of scratch and regretting your purchase because you let us sway your opinion. Options are a good thing.

Coming from full size pick-ups; I wanted to get into something smaller, but yet just as capable (if not more so than my Ram). I test drove the Tacoma TRD OR DCSB, the Chevy ZR2, and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Winter Edition (Sahara). I went to all three dealers and told them all what my plans were, and that I was going to go with the one that was the best deal, had the most resale, and most importantly the one that I liked the best. I can say that there were some positives about all three of them, but in the end it came down to the Tacoma and the Wrangler. I went with what I felt was not only the best deal for me, but was also something that I really liked the most. The Tacoma had far more to offer than the others. The Wrangler has endless possibilities like the Tacoma for mods. The ZR2 was very limited as far as mods, but it was also the first model year for that particular line of the Colorado (did that with my 14 Silverado, not again).

So, if I had to do it again, I would definitely go with the Tacoma. IMHO, I feel that you get more for your money with the Tacoma (regardless of trim level for either manufacturer Toyota or GM) than you do with the Colorado/Canyon line of pickups.

In the end, you should always go with what will fit your individual needs and even wants for any vehicle. I am very satisfied with my 2017 Tacoma TRD OR DCSB, and I do wish that I would have looked into the Tacoma long ago. The need for my previous full size pickups was more out of want (especially when lifting and making loud) than out of need.

Edit: Another thing that I did not like about the ZR2 was that it would shift into 4 Cylinder mode when cruising, but then when you would go to hit the gas, you would get that slight stutter when getting back in the gas and into the 6 Cylinder mode. On my Silverado I was able to tune that out with a programmer.

Since you trade every two years, I vote Raptor. Get it out of your system now. Come see the Taco in 2020.

The three most important things to me
    1. Reliability
    2. Durability
    3. Holding value
I think the Tacoma takes the cake
Chevy loses triple the amount of money as soon as they leave the lot. Tacomas are one of if not the greatest value holding trucks.

We gave someone 35k for a Tacoma last month with 13k mikes on it. Sticker was still in the car for 37800

Well you've had a recent Taco and a Domestic mid-size already which is more than most of us can say. If you're set on mid-size and asking on a Taco forum, your likely after conformation bias rather than objectivity.

Get a Pro and leave no question unanswered.

Except of course should you have gotten a Raptor.

I got a loaner Colorado from the dealer to drive last weekend because my work Chevrolet express broke down in Oklahoma City and drove it for a couple of days I didn't like the interior and didn't like the looks of it and when I got on it to haul ass the motor didn't sound as good as my taco I didn't mind driving it but I wouldn't have bought it the Tacoma looks so much better inside and out I definitely like the Taco over the Colorado that wouldn't be a option for me

Test drive both them again tonight. I just got to say I like the tacoma interior and exterior much better. They will call.me as soon as they see orders are available and colors for 18. I'll keep posted once I get the call

this is correct. I know if I had a 16 Tacoma off road and matched it my trade difference would be about $3k better in same time frame so about $120 less a month cost to operate.
