Took a quick run up to the top of the Kennecot mine in my backyard. Not too off-road since I did see a Corolla TRYING to go up the trail

Yes, the decent is what worries me. I have seen videos, pictures and testimonials of Tacoma's 4x4 going up and over but not of DCLB pre runers. I have done other 4x4 trails like steele pass in death valley but this black bear looks and is 20 times worse.

I got balls, this is true but I would definitely would have to do a run before trying my DCLB 2wd on this trail.

I've seen longer rigs do it (full size ram w/Cummins).
A lot of the trails in SW CO are doable in 2wd. Some are just less advised due to possible damage to your truck, you and or the trail. Black Bear is one that if it rains at all you definitly want the extra traction.
Good luck either way. I know, I'd be tempted to try it in 2wd just to say I did... if you do do it, be patient and take your time. Please don't be the next BB victim!

Yes the rear did over hang a Lil in moab. But receiver hitch did its job. We also did Blackbear pass. It's not that bad. The worst switchback was done in three backups. Coulda been done in two. But wife requested the third!!0ED8177E-7274-4E44-A99C-4B2575A7C0E1.jpgIMG_2786.jpg

StillCrawlin, just out of curiosity, what set up are you running? Suspension and tires? Tires look like 285/75/17's?

    Thx,

We recently did the San Juan passes (Ophir, Imogene, Black Bear, Alpine Loop) and Moab. My bumper dragged on the same spot at Fins 'n Things in Moab. Great trip with amazing views!IMG_2962.jpg IMG_2957.jpg IMG_3278.jpg

Where were the first couple of pics taken? Great scenery! I Googled San Juan Passes and got all kinds of stuff, but not what you took pics of.

The first picture is descending the steps on Black Bear pass. The second photo is also on Black Bear pass, just higher up. I recently moved to SLC and it took us 6 1/2 hours to get to Telluride. You should consider making a trip out there. I went with my wife and some siblings and their spouses. We are already thinking about when we can make it back.

I got back from a six day, 1400 mile solo overland trip around Oregon a few days ago and finally have a few pictures to post. These are the off road photos. It’s hard to get good pictures when you don’t have a partner. Here are the camping photos. I have more photos but don’t want to clog the feed. Enjoy!
