    Hi all,

Last night I had to get a tow home because my drivers side wheel bearing is shot and my brakes began stuttering then my ABS light and traction control light came on.

I replaced my drivers side rotor and pads but there's still no brakes. Peda to the floor and it's still sloppy and won't engage. While I'm working on my brakes and replacing the drivers side wheel bearing I want to replace the caliper too if need be. Any recommendations or advice on the lack of brakes still and whether should replace my caliper too would be appreciated.

worn bearing will make the caliper open up and cause pedal to be low

I had the same thing happening when my wheel bearing was shot. I replaced both wheel hubs and everything is fine now.

What does that even mean, " Caliper Open Up "?

    Makes no sense to me.

Worn bearing causes the rotor to pitch at an angle, pushing the brakes into the caliper, thus they are no longer flat against the rotor. There is nothing wrong with your caliper. Replace wheel bearings and then test drive it. Also post a pic of your truck. Thanks.

OK. The angle of the rotor presses the pistons back into the caliper housing.
