Somebody here on the forum would make a fortune if they developed a pattern and sold clear bra material overlays! I would buy one instantly!

I cleaned my new one with a brand new Microfiber cloth, very lightly dusted it.... it already looks like somebody wiped it with a piece of 80 grit sandpaper

Same here, ridiculous. But, the plastic still looks ok for the most part. Only when the sun hits it at just the right angle can I really see the light scratches. Going to buy some 3M from Amazon and apply it asap to prevent further damage.

I'm getting a new one installed this week. I noticed it when it had 5 miles on it. I thought it was just mine. Jesus

If you get a chance to talk with service, let me know if it's accessible easily once the trim piece is off. Good luck.

    This thread hit home hard.
I made the mistake of letting the dealership wash and vacuum my truck after it's 10k service. Sure enough on the ride home, the sun hit the cluster and it was scratch mark city.
I was always extra cautious to never touch it. I had learned from my previous cars to leave that piece the FUCK alone. I'll likely be ordering a new lens and taking it to the ZAGG screen protector kiosk. I'm sure they can custom fit a protector film.

Since this is either replace it or fix the problem yourself, I opted for both!

Let's see how this turns out after the bubbles evaporate out. 23 bucks for the cover, 5.99 for clear tint via Amazon prime. Just takes some patience. Wasn't sure if this tint was going to allow breathability like other wet application films, but so far all the little bubbles are gone so the big ones should follow suit with time. The only unknown is if I'm going to be able to clean up the backside good enough without putting visible scratches on it.

Seriously if you look at it funny it scratches. I baby the shit out of my truck and it looks like a toddler was drawing on it with rocks.

I wonder if you could clear coat it the way you can clear coat old fogged headlight lenses. If you use good catalyzed clear it wouldn't have an orange peel like a vinyl wrap might have. Then it should also be a bit tougher to scratch.

I bet money the solvents would cloud that shitty soft plastic in a heart beat

That's probably true. Let's see what the results are with the vinyl. Luckily I have yet to scratch mine and it would be nice to do something before I manage to...

I tried a clear coat on another clear piece of soft plastic and it instantly turned opaque. As smitty said, solvent + soft plastic = shit.

It's great you are attempting this. Thanks for the pic and for sharing your progress/results. Did you order the lens separately or did it come as a single unit with the black frame that surrounds the gauges as in this picture? If lens only, does it just snap on? Do you have to remove that frame to install?

Use plexus, microfiber eyeglass cloth, and wipe up and down and you will have no visible scratches. I clean mine weekly and it is perfect. Or you could decide to do it another way so you can have another thing to complain about...

It's all a complete unit, unable to separate the two as they look glued together...gotta work within those confines unfortunately. I was hoping to be able to do both sides of the lens but that's not going to be possible.

What did you use to trim the hole for the trip reset?
