So..... I really want to buy a 1946 Cessna 140. The wife is not as excited about it as I am.

    Ok, she's not excited.

    She's the opposite of excited.

Booked a flight for Friday on what will probably United's last domestic 747 flight tomorrow. Pop up charter ferry flight they started selling seats on yesterday, going from ORD-SFO. Plan to knock some drinks back at the hotel, sleep and standby travel back home on sat with my wife. Going to be awesome for sure, neither of us have ever flown on one.

Cool paint job. Is it a '68 year model?
Whaaaaaat I didn't know 747s ever went anywhere domestic. That's awesome! I am quite jealous. I've always wanted to fly on one of those birds

In May they ran them from ORD to SFO and back for a month on one of the 747s they were going to retire because the wifi was broke and it was not economical to fix it.

Take her to Oshkosh. Then you can do like me and start pointing out all of the expensive airplanes for sale then talk down to a cheaper one like a 140. Or in my case start drooling over the 4-place Bearhawk. :plane:

Never heard of a bearhawk until now. It looks like a hello courier and a citabria banged and out came the bearhawk.

Neither had I until our second day here when I saw two of the two place versions in the home built area. I still would like to get a classic taildragger though like a Stinson 108 or a Piper Clipper.

I have never seen a Bearhawk in person. But a 4 seat tail dragger would be my end goal. I was thinking more along the lines of a C-170 or C-180 somewhere down the line. But a Bearhawk would be cool too!!

    In SFO now.
Kick ass flight, it was 90% employees. It was essentially a 4hr networking event with everyone just up and walking around the entire time. Awesome being on a flight with all airplane geeks.

That's awesome. I had a co-worker that was going to buy a ticket as well because he said the flight would be just like you described. Sounds like he was right!

We bought a ticket, but in retrospect we should have just went standby. There was 250 people on the standby list and there were still open seats. Plus we were standing around BSing and we're barely in our seats.

That's awesome, I've been wanting to go on one of those, but have not figured out the method to their madness in selecting people here. The people I work with who have been on one has said the same thing.
