    2002 pre runner
    My 2002 pre runner diff is making a nasty growling noise, so i suspect something bad is going on inside. Does anyone know if the rear diff from a 2005 will bolt in place or are modifications needed.

    I believe that the pinion flange (where it bolts to the drive shaft) is different. It just has a different bolt pattern. You could call east coast gear supply and they would be able to tell you. The axle housings have different mount setups for leaf springs, shocks, ebrake, etc.
