Hey, I'm not gay but $100 worth of switches is $100 worth of switches.

Lots of areas not letting tourists in due to power outage. Not sure if that will affect you but better look into it before driving down.

I'd be down to go if it's open and drink some beer. I could even bring my trailer and we could make burgers or something. I've never been down there.

I'm working on finding a rental house last minute (best deals from what ive heard) but if that falls through I'll be in Carolina Beach, Freeman park i think its called.

Also from the OBX fellas, Everything South of the Inlet is closed, northern parts still open.

Off the topic, @VA SOFTACO , How hard is it to take off your topper if you feel like it?

Oh heck your looking all the way down near Wilmington. Too far for me to do a day trip.
Yeah they cut the power line and should be up in 2 weeks or so.

It is very easy. I can take the sides off in under 5 minutes and that's rolling them up to store them. After that it would take me probably 3 minutes to undo the canvas and support bars from the rail. Now to get the side rails off would take me a few minutes with a ratchet if I wanted the truck to look stock again. I can fold it down towards the cab less than 10 minutes and be on my way.

Same basic shit everybody else had 5 years ago.

Ah, Wilmington is my home town. Freeman Park is good but gets really busy and packed on weekends, lots of diesels and 20 inch wheels with lift in the front none in the back. Freeman Park is the north end I prefer the south end down at Fort Fisher. The beach down there is a state park and there is more open beach.

Ive been there many times. I used to drive on with my Honda Element, Got lots of looks from lots of folks in their Jeeps and gigantic trucks. Its a lot easier in the taco lol. It doesnt seem to be terribly crowded unless its a holiday weekend. A few years back it seemed a lot less crowded altogether, but its been getting more popular in the past 8 some odd years.

Yeah, I see the odd Subaru and Ford Escape on both ends here and there but usually when its rained or the sand is in good shape. On the busy weekends when it is hot, people are bogged down everywhere, idiots. I grew up on both of those beaches and my first memories are in the back of my dad's 68 bronco and 76 CJ5 back in the 70's. It was wide open and free during those times and they only started charging while I was gone in the Navy in the mid-90's or so. South End Fort Fisher is the place to be if you want solitude, common sense and open space. If you want to be packed in like sardines and hear loud music, turbo whine and black smoke, go to the North end. Of course like any other beach you can drive on in NC after September it becomes ours again when the fishing is best.
