Duratracs. Great on all surfaces for traction. Not too bad on road noise in my opinion and experience. They look aggressive though.

If you want an AT that is decent for occasional OR and great on road then go these...

    https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Geolandar+A/T+G015

If you want an AT that has a bit more bite for OR and is still damn good on road then go with these...

    https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Road+Venture+AT51

I'm guessing for your driving the Yokohamas are the ticket.

cooper st maxx, kbros are alright, they are a little bitch tire imo but some people like them. duratracs. general grabbers are cheap as hell and do work off road. yokahama makes a nice a/t but they wear like shit. if you don't care about road noise or weight I would go with the st maxx or duratrac edit: nitto ridge grapplers or toyo r/t are frickin sweet too.

Very happy w/ my general grabber at2's, 255/75-16, same hgt. I think as the stock 265 tires on my 17' DCSB OR, maybe not quite as strong as ko2's but also not as heavy. They look very similar to ko2's.

It is because people who knock on them are realistic, they aren't viewing them with rose colored glasses. Most of the all positive reviews are coming from people who just spent well over a grand (nearly double other tires that out perform them) and don't want to shoot down their purchase to help justify their purchase; they are the same people who drive a vehicle for 5k miles and say it is the best ever! Hence when posters say they are stock quiet or no change in mpg we know they are lying...

The hydroplaning things is physics and they sure didn't change the tread to move water out as opposed to in with the C shaped tread staying put. They certainly do well new with half an inch of tread when new, it would be hard to run through water deep enough and fast enough to hydroplane at that depth; but as they wear and water is trying to be pushed back in to the tread they certainly look to have the same issue the original versions did sometimes.

Ah, so because the Raptor has them they are the best, thanks for the info

Pretty much the BFG is above average off road, below on road and all around a mediocre tire with the best looks for a legit AT (not compared to hybrids like the AT3W, ridge grappler, ect). Being the most expensive knocks it down a rung or two.

If you want a similar tire that is a little better for much cheaper check out the Grabber AT2's. For the OP it sounds like the Cooper AT3 is a great bet, it outperformed all the AT tires in an expedition portal test off road and had some of the best road manners and handling to boot at a very good price point and is american made.

Okay bud...everyone is an expert these days and has an opinion.

Good luck with your search OP, I was over 13k into mine on my 16 and 2k into mine on my 17 and stand by my opinion and observations.
