First pickup i have owned. Just curious if this is typical for tocoma, or any other truck.

The back of the bed bed to the window looks even, but when you align the gate to the back of the bed, it's off. Higher on the passenger or right side, than the drivers or left side.
    Truck is on level ground.

    Normal?

Very normal. Affects more than half of pickup trucks except the Ridgeline.

    Should have gotten a ridgeline....
    Lemon law it bro...

Just curious, what is it, in the design that makes pickups tilt in the Bed?

Is it following the frame? Are frames inherently not level then?
Or stack up of body mounts and crap?
    Idk....

Combination of bed assembly onto frame and the rear axle shift (if any) during assembly.

What would the axle do to have the bed shift? If the bed is on frame... axle via springs?

Oh shit, I shouldn't have brought anything up about the shift. :anonymous:
Yours is tilted/ canted. This is a first, they're usually shifted. More pronounced with wheel poke biased to one side more than the other.

It's like wiping before you poop... Just doesn't make any sense...

Well, there ARE those times when that might be a good idea..!! Let's not expand that discussion...

I totally agree... But if you get into the truck in the driver's seat, you'll notice that the bed to cab alignment is now perfect and dead on... they developed it that way so that it's perfect when the driver is in the truck... Who cares when in the parking lot...not me..!!

I noticed that the other day when backing up to a full length mirror... Damn, my bed to cab fit was "spot-on"...

    Just sayin'

I have never thought to look at this on my truck and still won't because I don't really want to know!

I can't see a thing OP, looks good to me from here

On the bed subject, I recently spoke to a collision shop owner with over 40+ years of body work experience while I was getting a quot on a rock ding on my hood and painting my chrome bumper caps white, and somehow the subject of beds came up and he said "non of them are perfect, you'll find a misalignment somewhere on all of them" I just though about TW and chuckled lol!

Enjoy your truck, it's the best out there for the money!
    Cheers!

Just throwing my .2 cents in here, I just bought my truck. Found out about the bed alignment issue through TW, went out and looked at the bed, sure as shit it is WAY out of alignment, along with the bumper. I am trying to get the dealership to call me back, which has not been easy and it is not an quick trip there...so I guess I might be doing this myself and sending them a bill for my time.

ninja edit #1 - you can see my same post in another thread, thought I was posting in this one and mistakenly posted to the other one...lesson, never post before coffee.

ninja edit #2 - just got off the phone with the Service Manager, taking my truck in tomorrow morning to have this corrected. They said they have done plenty, so its not an uncommon issue, and he knew exactly the process and how it then make the bumper not align correctly so you have to fix that after...will update with result.

Update: sitting at the dealership waiting for them to finish my bed adjustments. I did a quick trip around the lot, every truck that was assembled in Baja (mine included) has the bed and bumper off. The ones I can find that were in texas, mind you I am talking about tacomas, 2017; are fine...take it with a grain of salt it could just be an outlier observation.

Update: Great news everyone, bed is fixed and looks great. Took the dealership about 45 minutes for them to do it, and like I said before. They have seen most of them and even commented on how bad they looked on the lot

Good to know. I plan on calling my dealership to see if they'll entertain the idea of fixing mine also. The difference in spacing between the cab and the bed isn't noticeable but the driver's side bumper gap is for sure!

20 cents is a lot of cash to toss around on TW. You might stick with the standard .02 so folk don't get all lathered up.

Now on this I'd bet a full 50 cent you'd give them their laugh of the day.

You can edit/delete your own posts. Links right at the bottom of each one.

Shame they don't take the initiative to correct each as part of the final pre delivery inspection. I suppose they are rolling the dice that they can avoid the labor as most folks won't notice.

Glad you got yours spotted and fixed early on!

I think it's just a small issue... As soon as Pedro retires, from Quality Control at the Baja Plant, things will improve.
