Golden Steer in Forest Park, IL. A suburb or two west of Chicago. Massive prime ribs and stiff drinks served to you by sweet talking but sassy old ladies who were probably there when it first opened.

I am far enough removed from civilization that I have learned to enjoy cooking. I can't tell if I'm a decent cook or if I'm amazed that it's not burnt and think my food tastes good.

Best ive had in my area....The Peddler Steakhouse - Greenville SC (recommend the steak obviously...Slab is brought to your table and you choose the cut and how thick you want it)

Best i've had outside of my area...SNOB (Slightly North Of Broad) Charleston SC - Recommend the Shrimp and Grits With a nice glass of Cabernet Sauvignon

Next time go first to Pete Jone's Skylight Inn in Ayden, NC (45 mins from Wilson). Sit down to their pulled/chopped pork and be amazed. Very simple menu that is hands down the best ENC style Q I've had in my life. Used to eat there once a week or more.

Dad brought me a bottle of their sauce & rub last weekend.

I make my own sauce, but am wanting to taste theirs again....it's been 20 years since I've had theirs.

It's like you are reading my mind......I'm eating pulled pork sammiches for breakfast right now. Sauced down with my homebrew vinegar sauce & homemade sweet slaw.

This is very much a hole in the wall the place, even for Laurel,MD but they have some damn good Mexican food, and if you like spicy, there taco's are pretty damn good.

The other place, down the street from my house, is expressway pit beef. Won't hold up to proper southern bbq, but it's probably the best around

Best cheese burger I ever had was at a place called "Sully's" in Forks WA. located on the Olympic peninsula. Just came out of the Olympic N.P. from an overnight backpacking trip and we were hungry as hell. Best cheese burger ever.
