I spoke with LTS Motors this morning and they also recommend machining them instead of replacing. Decisions. Decisions.

I just never had good results getting the rotors turned...the wobble always came back over time and theres only so much you can grind off before you have to get new rotors anyhow...

What rotors did you put on? My truck only has 70k miles so that's why I'm on the fence about replacing.

Are they wobbly now when you apply the brakes? I just bought some cheap slotted and drilled rotors since its not our daily driver...they've been on for a while now and no problems. If you arent braking hard constantly most rotors will hold up. If you are hard on brakes Id go with the ceramic pads and matching rotors.

I live on a road that is 55-60MPH and have to stop and turn everyday off of it that doesn't have a light, so yes I've been pretty hard on the brakes.
They are quite wobbly when braking.

Do what you like but I'd just replace the rotors. I just found it was severely annoying a month after I had my rotors turned and I put new pads on my honda it started wobbling again! So the second time I just replaced the rotors and changed the pads just to be sure and never had a problem the rest of the time I had the car. I'd look for ceramic pads and matching rotors, just my lowly opinion though.

I'd be highly annoyed if I spent $100 on machining and the wobbling came back a month later.

I can't tell you what is best quality of rotors. Based on a quick search yesterday, first gen rotors for basic we're about $25, then when you look at the big aftermarket names, they jump to $75-150. I would say that basic rotors should last 50-100k miles for you, and I thought you said you already 150-160k on your truck, so by the time you get another 100k on the clock, the motor is likely going to be getting tired.

exactly...you have to take the calipers off to get the rotors turned anyhow...so you basically are at the same point just have to put new rotors on...and you dont have to go to where ever drop them off wait on them go back pick them up all the while your truck is broke...you just get the new rotors and put it back together and you are back on the road in a couple hours at most start to finish.

I called Toyota and they charge $109 each for the OEM Rotors, I think I'm going to look into after market further before I commit to OEM.

@Tacoma.Gal there is also Rockauto.com for parts. Since you are only at 70k, and going to last a long time yet, also consider AutoZone with their lifetime brake pads. They may have lifetime rotors too. Basically you buy it up front, and when it wears out, you take it back to AutoZone and get new parts free.

I'm planning a trip with the wife next month, and we would like to visit the moon craters. Is there anywhere good to camp in that general area that isn't a designated camp ground?

Anyone have experience with Kumho tires? We just put 285/70R17 on the Dodge today, very reasonably priced.
My truck tires cost more than the full size truck tires

I had good luck with them on my work truck. Didn't get crazy amount of miles out of them but for the price they were great.

Hey while I'm lurking on this thread:D. Question hopefully someone could answer. How hard is the trail going to Boulder city/Silver City in the Sawtooth's? Could a lifted 5th gen with stock size Duratracs make it? Is it worth the 5hr drive? A Coworker from Ketchum ID told me to check it out. Thanks
