Awesome build, just read all the way though it after searching frenched sas builds which is in my near future. Interesting to see you are in search of an aftermarket housing, I have an 85' 4Runner axle in my garage but have decided to wait and get a housing built. Thinking of a 64" wms diamond with the 'yard hp8 I have sitting on the bench (not running ifs hubs/fror brake bracket).

What overall width are you looking for and think would best fits your truck /trails?

Thanks for looking and hope you got some info.

Main reason for a wider axle is more tire poke to keep the body off the rocks and provide some more stability. The axle I have been looking at is the trail gear +5 axle with the fror bracket and tacoma brakes. Think that comes out to 64 1/2" if I recall. Probably end up going with a ruffstuff axle if they ever do a deal on them again but need to do something soon to get rid of my shims as they keep bending the leaf sprung center pin but don't want to do the other 83 axle I have.

Let me know if you have more questions. I learned a lot doing this and would have done a few things differently if I ever do it again.

Signed up to run some trails at the Trail Hero event at sand hollow in October. Doing Plan B Friday and Milts Mile Saturday. Probably head up Thursday morning after I get off work and come back sunday morning.

    18' 7k PJ with 4" main rails?

I've put probably 6k miles on mine without any tire problems. Just cracking fenders

Sounds right. I forget how long this one is. It's actually my dad's. When I get my own trailer it'll be a little smaller. Just big enough for the truck. Our fenders wobble though haha first blow out I've ever had and wasn't that bad

Went and hit logandale trails last night. Just a bunch of red rock like sand hollow and Moab just an hour away. Had a great time. Pushed the truck a little and only really got denied once. Tires need to break in some more and may try a lower pressure. Overall pretty happy with it right now.

And the one dudes sami buggy. Guys an awesome driver and has another white one with a full body. Was really the only full body rig besides a cherokee. He left early though.

Group included 3 sami buggies, 1 regular sami, the cherokee and my tacoma. A good group

Alright. I need some rock lights. After seeing some other guys with them and how much easier it is to spot them with em I think it's time I give in and get a set. Just white colored. Able to be wired to a switch. Not looking to spend a lot of money either. Any suggestions?

Got some mirrors for my half doors. Just have to trim the top of them.

Also got my spare mounted finally. Waiting for the right rim to come in... few things left then it'll be Rubicon ready. Main thing is finish the spare driveshaft mount which I'm still debating on how to do. And then maybe clean up the wiring and a cooler mount

I've strapped spare driveshafts to my spare in the past. I usually toss them in the bottom of my tool box and stack everything ontop of them.

I cut some tubing in half and welded them to a piece of 1.5" tubing but didn't make them wide enough for a house clamp and don't know where to mount it. Was thinking behind the box between the spare but don't know how it will do dangling. Ill mess with it tomorrow

I may build a set after I cage it. Undecided though cause I like both looks. Need to make the inside more weather friendly though lol.

Cant get this thing to pass smog. The catalytic converter sensors wont read. Reset the battery last week and just went and drove 80 miles ranging from 55-75. Any suggestions?

My trucks been throwing a catalytic converter code since I bought it. I just clear the code and drive a little and get the truck warmed up before I take it in to get smogged

I'm going to drive it to work this week and try again next week. It's not throwing any codes just says the catalyst and evap are not ready.
