Okay guys so I took my 2010 to the dealership today to get the frame inspected for corrosion/rust. Good news is, the frame passed and they said everything looked good. They also told me it would be covered until 2022 so if I had any concerns, bring it back and they'd re-inspect it. My question is, should I just leave it alone since they claim it'll be covered until 2022 or spend out of pocket money to get it properly undercoated and protected? Thanks

I'd recommend cleaning it..let it dry... spray lots and lots of fluid film..
...redo process every 3 to 6 mo. Or untill frame fails...

This way you maintain the dealer warranty and keep the frame in good condition.

    What state OP?

If not in a salty area, you can avoid much of the problem by just keeping it clean.

I disagree, toyota inspected it and basically said it's there problem until 2022. My opinion is keep it clean as you would with any other vehicle. If it fails between now and then they fix it.

I live in NE Georgia. Some salt treatment in the winter but not a lot. Anytime I ever hit the roads when the roads are salted, I spray the frame off ASAP

lol, just run it through the car wash occasionally and it will be fine. Crawl underneath to check it out once or twice a year just to scratch the itch.

My biggest thought/fear is if 3 or 4 years from now they screw me over and refuse to keep their word on replacing it until 2020

Is there anything wrong with it now that you are so concerned? If no, continue as you have been doing and keep it clean.

Fluid film wears off.. if you are worried about it spray it off before being inspected.
This way you cover all your bases.
Tacoma frames are not known for keeping it clean and they won't rust game plan.

Fluid Film is not a permanent coating.
Great stuff lots of members use.
Toyota replaced my frame without fluid film issues.
