Are there any good places around San Antonio to go wheeling or even riding a trail? I want to find an excuse to put it in 4wd.

4wd will take you where you're not supposed to be. If you need to go wheelin follow the Austin thread. Lots of people go to Hidden Falls.

Yeah, I'm with you. The only place I know of and never been is Hidden Falls. Lets see what others come up with.

I saw that, and while it looks interesting, it looks to be mostly Jeeps. I really want something to learn how the truck handles off-road.

I'll look into it. I was hoping to find some trail roads. I grew up in the southeast where there were public 4x4 trails everywhere. I see in Texas that almost all land is privately owned and not many state parks allow public wheeling. Just a change I'll have to get used to.

    Yea unfortunately.
I used to get in trouble a lifetime ago with 4wds. But seems to be a good crowd that joins up for HF.

It seems like Hidden Falls is my first option to check out. I'll have to schedule a camping adventure out there. I want to figure out what the truck can do stock before I decide on what mods I'd like to do. I need to see what I feel can be improved upon. I'd prefer to prep the truck more to an overland build vs an off-road build. Trying to talk the wife to moving to Colorado in the next couple years.

It sucks that we have to get used to limited public land. I grew up in Northern Cali and we too had public land to moto on. Tahoe was my favorite place to moto my motorcycle. You could follow fire trails for days.

Yeah, my ultimate goal is overlanding too. I want to learn more about my truck off road too. So far we have 4 trucks planning to caravan to the Overland West Expo next may in Flagstaff. That'll be our first trip in the Tacoma and it gives me time to prep it with armor and camp setup. Damn it's an expensive hobby.

If on air, make sure you you watch your breathing, a lot of dept will fail you if you hit the alarm on 500psi left. Nice slow steady approach will get you through. Make sure all hose drags, ladder sets and coupling connects are made smooth and complete do not rush any of these. Remember when doing Keiser to lift up when smacking the block to get that bitch to move efficiently. Do not rush anything just nice steady pace. Also make sure you have plenty of electrolytes in you the night before so you don't cramp up or hit exhaustion too quick. Don't studder the opening of the nozzle or slam it shut seen folks fail on a slam down on the nozzle. Remember to conserve energy for the dummy drag and use your damn legs not your back.
