The Persieds are peaking this weekend. The peak is during the day but early morning Saturday should be good.

I'm going to head up late Friday to miss traffic. I'll probably arrive around midnight or a little after. I'm thinking of finding a spot on the Lake Alpine end of the trail.

Sky watching Saturday morning and then wheeling Saturday day and head home sunday.

A lot of crap and too much money spent
Wish I could go but this is the only weekend I have to swap my spindles out before I head to Oregon.

I just read this is supposed to be the best meteor shower for the next 90 years. I'm planning on living to 120. Not sure if I can stretch that to 132.

I'll be up there this weekend with my dad and bother. I might leave Friday afternoon, so I can grab a good spot for camp.

I'm headed up off the 88 by Silver Lake. Hoping for a good show. Weather wise should be good too with no thunderstorms rolling through this weekend.

I may have tweaked a few things...
NASA has said otherwise. This year is supposed to be average, but will appear less so due to a 3/4 moon in the sky.

I'm not saying it won't be worth seeing of course. The moonlight will only outshine the lesser occurances anyway. And from what I've read Perseids has more of the fireball types. I've already convinced my wife to drive out of town so we can lay in the bed to watch. Just a matter of how far out she's willing to go.

Still any weekend in the mountains is worth while.

We'll be running Slick Rock. We'll probably end up running from Lake Apline to Utica and then back to Lake Apline. I don't mind if you join.

Cool man, thanks. I'd rather not run it solo. Last year when I did I didn't even touch any armour until leaving. That was more from not paying attention. Even so, that trail changes a bunch all the time.

I'm going to head that spot where we camped last year on that Tacomaworld group. Kinda near the granite wall. It'll probably be taken but I can find something in that general area.

Running Slick Rock alone is fine, but I'll be more comfortable when I get my winch up and running.

I was thinking the same spot. I'll most likely go up tomorrow sometime in the afternoon and see if the stop is taken. Hopefully it's taken by you. ;)

I probably won't get there until pretty late. Like 10-11pm. I feel the same about having a winch.

I'll be leaving tomorrow around 1/2PM from the Bay Area. Should get there around 4/5PM depending on traffic. Hoping to just avoid it all together.

Thanks for hte pics Cory. I had a lot of fun this weekend.

I felt like I took a lot of pictures but I only took a handful. I'll get Dmitry's drone videos and edit them into something and post them on youtube sometime within the next couple months (I'll shoot for this week though)
