I have a 06 DCSB prerunner with the TRD Off Road package. I want to lift it 2.5 - 3 inches but I also want the smoothest ride possible on the street. It is my daily driver and will never be used off road. I already purchased a kit from Headstrong that includes the Bilstein 5100 shocks, OME 885 coils and a Deaver AAL. I also purchased the Light Racing UCAs. Shortly after receiving the lift, I moved into a new house so the lift was never installed. Now that I'm getting ready to install it, I'm wondering if it would be better to switch to something else to get a ride that is softer and smoother than the factory TRD package. Like I said, this truck will likely never go off road. What do you guys recommend? Will the Bilstein 5100 with 885 coils give me the ride I want or should I go with something else? I want to keep the budget at $1500 or less. I've looked at Icon, FOX, Toytec Boss, etc. I like the idea of a extended travel coilover because it should help with suspension drop coming off of speed bumps and such. Also, I already purchased 34 x 11.50 Ridge Grapplers that I need to clear so I really can't go less than a 2.5" lift. CMC has already been done.... Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts.

If it were mine, with your usage, I'd sell the parts / tires and leave the truck alone.

Use the funds to buy new Michelin tires and enjoy the truck.

Since I'm sure you'll want to proceed with the lift anyway, I'd say use the parts you have.

It's funny that you mention the Michelins. That is what is currently on the truck and they have over 80K on them. Awesome tire for highway use. I have a friend that got over 120K on a set....

:facepalm:34x11.5 Ridge Grapplers and they will never see dirt? What load rating did you get?

The Bilsteins won't give you a full 3" lift and that's a rather big tire, you may have rubbing issues either way. With that said, you don't want an E rated tire if you're looking for comfort so just sell them to me cheap and find a C.

Anything you're looking for is designed for off road and rugged use so sticking stock may be your best option.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Install what you have and invest in some good bump stops. It's not going to ride like a cloud but you will be fine and will get the look you want. GET THE FN BUMP STOPS! Go with the ones from Wheelers Offroad. Super Bump stops.

I did get the C load rated version of the Ridge Grappler. While not as smooth as a highway tire, at least it isn't 10 ply. Great suggestion on the bumpstops, I haven't really looked into those yet.

I have read a lot of different posts today and I keep coming back to the 6112/5160 combo. Seems most people really like the way it feels both on the road and off.

I spent a lot of time over the weekend going through threads and have decided I don't want the periodic maintenance of the Fox, Icon or King coilovers. Since I don't take my truck off road it just doesn't make since to invest so much in shocks when they would not be utilized their full ability. I'm either going to keep my 5100/885 setup or upgrade to the 6112/5160 package. I need to do a little more searching to see if I can find people who have gone from the 5100/885 to the 6112/5160 and whether they thought it was a big enough difference in ride quality to be worth it.

Think I'm going to go with a complete OME kit including Dakar springs. Everybody seems to love the OME stuff... guess I will give it a try. Also going to install Wheelers Super Bumps on the front while I'm doing the lift. I may eventually do the back too but I'm going to hold off until I see that I actually need them with the Dakar springs.
