I have a 2010 crewcab v6. I have 5100s on the front at the third highest setting. 1 inch blocks on the back to level it. 18x10 moto metal wheels. And a dif drop kit. I installed the 5100s first and everything was ok. I then installed the wheels, dif drop and rear blocks all at the same time. Now i have a popping sound coming from the front, usually when i first start moving or go from foward to reverse and sometimes when i am turing and moving really slow in a parking lot. I cant find anything thats loose. And its driving me crazy. On top of that, my tires scrub even after cutting the inner fender and doing a cab mount chop. So i need to lift it a couple it more inches. Im so frustrated with this that i may go back to stock. Any help would be great. Thank you

    yep..
Sorry to hear.. do you happen to have a go pro camera or similar? You can set up the camera where you think the popping is coming from and may be able to see what's causing it.

6inch lift sitting on bilstein coilovers. Lexus is300 studs in front to keep stock wheels, general grabber red letters, nfab front bumper.
I have the steelman chassis ear. Good tool for isolating sounds.

Try removing the diff drop. It's not needed on 2nd gens.

What size tire? Did you have the front end aligned after changing the suspension? If you did have alignment done, check the LCA cam bolts are tight.

Lifting it more won't cure the rubbing. You need it to clear at the full range of the suspension. Find out where it's rubbing and take care of that area :sawzall:.

Bushings on control arm or UCA is my guess. Does it sound like a 'creek' then a 'pop'? Does it do it more often when you have the wheels turned all the way to one side and backing up over a bump or out the driveway?

Get some teflon grease in a spray can, soak down the UCA bushings and control arm bushings. Jump up on the nurf bars, rock the piss out of it. Then soak bushings again. See if that helps. Only other thing I can think of is ball joints...

Also check the coil spings make sure they are seated properly in the cups!!!

This is stupid...but did you retorque the wheels after initial installation?

Also check the brake caliper mounting bolts.

    yep..
Did you replace the LCA with OEM parts? I've read about 3rd party LCA bushings not fitting right.

Get back under there and tighten it all back up, torque every bolt to spec. I had popping in my front and had a buddy even look at it with me and we couldn't find anything. Nothing looked loose and we couldn't really see anything moving when we heard the pop. You could see vibrations in some of the parts though. Took it to the dealer and they went under it and said just about all the bolts were loose and needed tightening and it's been perfect ever since.

It does still rub though even after cutting. Don't lift it more, just cut more:sawzall:

I used aftermarket LCAs. I will go back and tighten everything up. Thanks for the help guys! Also, why would lifting it up not help? The tire would be further away from everthing its hitting right?

Are you talking about tire rubbing? Lift helps clear the fenders, but usually bigger tires are wider. Thats when you get into issues with rubbing on UCA etc... so always plan ahead, take measurements, and choose proper wheels or get spacers (if needed)

Yes at ride height the wheel will be further away after the lift. But what happens when you compress the suspension? This is why I say it needs to clear at the full travel of the suspension, as well as turning. Most of the time if your just driving on the street you can get away with it because your not using all of your wheel travel.

Still have the sway bar on it? If so could be the sway bar contacting the coil seats..
