I believe the jbl amp is 2 ohm. It should work fine. I took mine out and replaced it with a RF 2 ohm 8 inch punch with no problems.

Just hooked up my newly arrived pioneer slim sub. Great improvement. Solid bass response. I just had to configure the sub wires.

Yes, I used the stock amp. With only the sub replacement, sound is very noticeable and bass response is !

Alpine's Jim Walter says these are way underrated - by a factor of 2 or more. That said, they do tend to shed surrounds at some level of abuse. Keep it just under that :p

Audio newbie here, what would happen if I put a 4 ohm in with stock amp? Looking for a sub to replace blown out stock one also.

Either would work. I started with a 2ohm that had no problems and then moved to a 4ohm. In theory a 4ohm would be better so when you hook it up in parallel, it'll be 2ohm.

Somone can correct me if I am mistaken.

Was the pioneer much better than the stock sub?

Digging this up from a couple pages back. It want to clarify for any others who stumble upon the info.

The amp is said to be stable to 2ohm. Therefore for optimal output, you want either a 2ohm sub of DVC 4ohm or DVC 1ohm. DVC subs must be either wired in series or parallel either doubling or cutting the impedance (ohm measurement) in half.
So a DVC 2ohm would leave you running at either 1ohm (you'll fry the amp) or 4ohm (run the amp at 1/2 the wattage output vs it's 2ohm rating.)

I just purchased a new Sport with the JBL system and really find it lacking like most on this string. I noticed on this post some success replacing their JBL speakers, would be great to know some details, how the new speakers are working, and if you have any photos of your install. Be great to see some details on replacing the JBL sub, with photos if anyone has any. Lots on non-JBL, but not on the JBL. I keep checking OEM Audio Plus and Taco Tunes but no luck.

Just curious how the replacement is going, thinking of upgrading the sub in my 2018, also do you notice any real different? I would suspect, but never really know. Did you have to do much to get the new speaker compatible with the wiring harness? thanks.
