For those who say that they are not concerned about prying eyes since they have nothing to hide, it is not about individual moments or bits of useless data. Google, Amazon, this forum, your super cool online knitting club you wont shut up about , everything mines data from us constantly. Bits and pieces mean nothing and while it can be an incredibly useful marketing tool for the next time you want those hipster skinny jeans at Macy's and they have a digital mirror suggesting things you would like or sending you pointed relevant texts, the government accessing and collecting this data under the pretense of security is what gets a bit spooky. Everyone jokes about going to the library and checking out a series of books related to nefarious topics and how the gov will come get ya, but lets say you do that and nothing happens. You go buy Anarchist cookbook on Amazon for $10 and ship it to your house. You attend a public gathering in a large city with high profile gov officials and are caught saying some off handed remarks, then they get curious, dig deeper and here it is...... start drawing links that don't actually exist. People seem to think there is a man like OZ behind the curtain looking into your business, there are too few Military/Gov and too many citizens to do that. They create algorithms and rules and when you meet enough of those red flags you end up on a watch list or worse yet, a suspect for something you perhaps didn't do.

At the end of the day, nobody is really "listening" on the other end, so I really don't give two craps about it and I am not worried either, however I am not willing to simply ignore the fact that when I am in an airport or crowded public setting, there are even SIGNS PRINTED AND POSTED that say they are listening. Just be aware, and take a reasonable amount of caution to not say really stupid things.
