I got the truck I was looking for, but it's a base model with very few of the bells and whistles. I would like to add

    Cruise Control
    Sliding Rear Window
Bluetooth/USB so I can talk hands free and charge my phone

I suspect keyless entry may be a stretch, and while the wiring is there for a backup camera, the dash board appears rudimentary. But it is perfect for most of my needs. Any help with aftermarket parts would be appreciated.

    Welcome!

Adding oem keyless entry is actually very easy. Check above and behind your glove box for a white box with a harness coming out of it. My 09 base didn't have it, so I got one on eBay and plugged it in, then all you need is any old tacoma keyfob. Send me a message if you need more info.

I got the glove box out but cant find a white box. I dont see any harness just hanging there lacking something to connect to. I got some key fobs, going to try just programming them.

The harness in mine had a smooth flexible conduit around it. Did you take the trim piece above the glove box out? I believe it was tucked up there to the left, maybe taped out of the way.

To remove the top panel is only one 10mm bolt. I took mine off and took this picture.

You can see where the wire harness comes from and plugs into the door control receiver. (That's just where I stuck mine, not sure exact oem location)

    found!!! thanks!

know anything about cruise control? I installed the rostra 250-1836. The cruise light comes on, but so did the airbag light, and it does not work yet.
Im trying to install the 250-4206 clutch engagement switch. I have found 4! taped up harnesses in the area but none of them connect to the two-wire 4206. So it gets complicated then

Cruise may be a PnP with a factory switch in the column position, and maybe a fuse and/or relay in another blank location. If not, this article might help. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/6...single-cab-tacoma-cruise-control-project.html

Your year camera would have been displayed in the rearview mirror. you'll need the correct mirror for the year if you want it to act OE.

You can add intermittent wipers in about 15 min with a wiper switch change out.

My '13 budget base 5 lug has the bottom of the line entune, but it has bluetooth. Are you sure you don't?

The USB you see on the dashes aren't really for charging, they are for media. If you don't have a traditional car charger, get one of those $5 USB outlets that pop into the 12v round outlet, put your cable in and you'll be all set.

While I like my rear slider (part of the convience package that came on mine with cruise and P/W P/L), I'm not sure I'd go to the effort /expense to make the swap if I had fixed. If you do choose to proceed, consider having a pro automotive glass shop do the work, so that you get some guarantee on the resealing of the area.

    Got the intermittent wipers!
No USB on dash, just an accessory plug, no bluetooth. Satellite but missing antenna. I bought a Pioneer AVH-1330NEX and the backup camera, w Sirius, not posing any big problems so far except wiring. that cruise is not cooperating.
The window is 86'd for now, so is paint.

Thanks Doogz !!! I just received the used OEM Door Control Receiver I ordered from eBay, installed it and programmed my keyfob, works great !!!! It's a very easy mod pnp all the way. Thanks again for the info, maybe this should be a "sticky" for Gen2 base owners?
